Hi
I came across an old small axe when tidying Nans garage , Can any one shed any light on it , I have tried researching it but can't seem to find the exact one , lots of others with different spelling etc and logo on my one looks like a lion maybe ? The spelling is GiLLWELL . The handle has pretty much had it but it does have a name burnt into it, it reads P/L F.REID then 1936 I think the 6 in 1936 is pretty much faded. Someone over time as the head must have came of has hammered a nail into top to secure the head and spread the handle so as not to fall off. Can anyone help , Many Thanks CMC

Many Thanks , Yep that's the one ...Although the one I have the lion is faded on the left hand side and between the lion and the GiLLWELL has totally faded away. Thankyou again for finding out for me , I was going round in circles trying to research it , Top Man . The P/L and name F.REID had me baffled as there are no Reid's in our family tree , I think must have been gifted or bought somewhere along the years ,it is very worn and covered in rust , so it has been well used for its job , I will try to find a good home for it with someone who will appreciate it.Regards CMC
