id say there is improvement from the machete to the railroad spike. i like the overall lines, but smoothing out the choil and giving the blade a more even finish would make it less crude looking.

are you using a belt sander or files/saws?

keep at it, and keep posting pics!

Thx MoritomoM,

I used an angle grinder to get tha basic shape. Then all files and sand paper wrapped around a flat piece of wood.
I think i will leave it crude looking;being my first knife and all. Thx again,

Ian:D

Nice work getting your hobby started. I've been wanting to mess around making a knife and keep talking myself out of it.

Thanks for posting the pics and I hope you all the best in future builds. I like the handle shape on the machete.

sounds labor intensive!

since the "crude" look is what you were going for, ill say good job!

lots of character and as i mentioned, real nice lines on the spike. i like the twisty handle!

Thx 2 All.
ya it was a little labor intensive. But im moving into a new house that has a shop out back:D I gonna try to make a grinder out of an old 1.5 hp motor. As for the handle on the machete im gonna do a classic olive drab 550 cord weave.

Thx again guys

Ian
