Gimmicky New SOG's

Found this link in another thread here. I think SOG is slipping a little in some of their new offerings, i.e., Fusion Muscle Car and Kilowatt. I can see a use for the Kilowatt around the house but the blade markings on these knives is a little on the tasteless side for me. Gimmicky. I do like their new Powerlock offerings in their multitool lineup however.

Every knife company has made a few things that some people consider tacky or pointless. And like always, the market will decide their success.

You know, I liked the IDEA of the kilowatt... it seems like it may be pretty handy to someone in that line of work... although I agree that the graphics on the blade make me want to puke. The muscle car thing just seems... well.... silly.

I have been of the impression that sog folders have been slipping in quality anyways. I examined a few SOG folders the other day and found bad blade play in several. A departure from what I am used to in there fixed blades. Maybe I just ran into a bad batch though.

I have several SOGs and have been happy with them, I'm gonna have to handle a few of these newer generation knives to see if they stack up. I do think that the vulcan is rather... sexy.
