I was looking at one of the vendors today and came across grinding belt packages for the beginner. Was wanting you guys to look this over and see what you think.
Package includes:
3M
Three 36 grit 3-Mite Resin Bond Belts
Two 60 grit 3-Mite Resin Bond Belts
Two 120 grit 3-Mite Resin Bond Belts
Three 220 grit 3-Mite Resin Bond Belts

Three 400 grit 3-Mite Resin Bond Belts
Two 30 micron Film Belts
Two 15 micron Film Belts No. Each
One TZA-16 1200 grit Trizact Belt

Klingspor
One 60 grit Blue Alumina Zirconia
One 120 grit Blue Alumina Zirconia

So,what do you think guys.Is it too wide of an array of belts for a beginner?
Is there some belts here that I would never or seldom use?
Is there certain grits that I would need more of than whats in the package?
Thx for all your help.

looks like a good assortment .you can use them and decide what works for you & what doesn't.You will also need some finer belts like 400-800 grit. What vendor/price for the package??

The 30 micron belt is 400 grit, and the 15 micron is 600 grit.(some lists show them as 800 and 1200,but 3M says this is wrong). You will probably want more 400 grit and may not use the finer belts much. Most makers hand finish beyond 400 or 600. The micron film belts are a different kind of belt. Some love them - some hate them. This assortment will get you started and let you decide what you like.

That combo looks like the one offered by Koval Knives. I have used the combo and it seems to be OK and I plan on buying again but with some additional belts.

Thx guys.Yes the package I was looking at was from Koval's.I think the price was 63.00 or 68.00 dollars.
