if anyone here is interested, theres a series of movies with ginger snap in the title about 2 sisters and werewolves... all of them are straight to video, and there all pretty good

but, in the 3rd one it takes place in colonial times, and there are a lot of authentic (ish) knives.

the one indian hunter caries at least 2 blades on his hips, 2 tomahawks, and a bandolier of about 5 knives across his chest... its pretty impressive...

I really liked the first one of those movies. I don't really remember the 2nd one much & have yet to see the 3rd but thanks for the heads up :)

Green Dragon and Murdoch..
The second one was so-so but the first was neat, an off beat angle to it. Around here it was pitched with a tag line I won't put up in this thread, but it really tied in neatly with teenage girls coming of age and going up against society's expectations of them. Subversive and enjoyable.. well worth the rent. Third one not seen in these parts yet.
cheers

that third movie is harder than he!! to find in these parts. i've been tryin to buy a vhs copy since they come out.

i honestly liked it more then the first one...

i think the story line of them being in colonial times made it a little more... i dont know why, but more beleivable, and the ending was much better. AND HOLY CRAP THE KID WAS SCARY LOOKING. best horror make up ive seen yet, done by the make up artist who did army of darkness. the were wolves were done exceedingly well in this too, similarly to the first one, but with more of them, and again, just better in general.

that indian hunter is a hero to me though with his gear set up...

I saw it on Comcast Pay Per View.
It was OK. Not enough nudity.

Thanks fulloflead, answered the question I was looking for :)

Might still buy it to see the hunter with the knives and two tomahawks though, the guy must be carrying enough for a Blade show booth....

Clarification:
It was Comcast ON DEMAND Pay-per-view where you have to search through the "On Demand" menu. I watch a TON of horror movies, so I was scrolling through the list under MOVIES - HORROR, found "Ginger Snaps Back" and thought WTF?

Funny thing; my girlfriend gets the bill and I pay for the movies I order. She actually looked up the movie on the internet to see WTF I had watched. I don't know if she thought I had ordered porn or was just curious, but at least it have me a heads-up that I'd better be careful what I order on Pay Per View. ;)

Personally, I didn't think there was anything noteworthy about the movie - even the knives weren't really worth a rewind (which you can do on On Demand). Plenty of better horror movies out there if that's what you're looking for.

I actually really liked The Village even though the critics hated it - but the critics never understand the horror genre. I could teach a class on it. ;)

it's funny the only two people who liked the village would be members of bf ;)

i've got over 1000 movies on vhs which the majority of are horror movies and sci fi. i hope my knife collection doesn't get this big because they are a you know what to store.

I liked "The Village" as well. I had the movie somewhat figured out, at least the monste part LOL, but even I was surprised at the ending. The movie had nice twist to it that is not found in a lot of movies of the like, today. Critics are just that, critics. Besides, everyone has their own opinions about everything.

Well, looks like we have 3 now. ;)

No DVDs? Once you go DVD you NEVER go back! I love to watch the deleted scenes that are in the special features of the DVD as well as the director's Commentary. I especially recommend the DVD of the Dawn of the Dead remake.

As far as the Village goes, there's foreshadowing and then there's predictibility. If you see something that might be foreshadowing and then sit there and try to think of what's going to happen instead of just WATCHING the friggin' movie, SURE you can figure it out and it could ruin the movie. Horror movies can be like that, but there is art in the way the director/writers set up the series of events too and you have to play along.

Movies like The Sixth Sense where the whole movie is basically designed so it CAN have a surprise ending are kind of gimmicky to me. IMHO, a surprise ending isn't neccessary and predictible ones can be just as good. Sometimes the viewer feels privlidged to be "in" on what's going on.

That said, I thought The Others (Nicole Kidman) was an absolute masterpiece.
The Ring was the best thing I've seen in years.

I do own that Dawn of the Dead DVD. I like to play it REALLY LOUD. :D

love all those movies too :D
