Since my giraffe bone Mnandi didn't come with a box or birth card, I decided to do a transformation with it.
I took my ladder damascus blade and a pin I was offered in a trade and made the Mnandi into a unique, possibly one of a kind Mnandi.
I generally don't like to mess with a perfect knife, but my curiosity got the best of me.

Here it is all dressed up:

I made the decision after getting my startac in may, that mnandi would be my next folder, just havn't been able to find a blade/handle combo that i liked enough to buy.. think i just found it. That knife looks incredible; thanks! Any idea how the giraffe bone holds up?

I actually don't know and I won't be finding out since this is my shelf queen knife. I don't believe giraffe bone is a current offering though. Glad you like it and thank you for posting :D

That's a sweet combo Lisa. I'm glad you don't have the birth card. Now you have the best of both worlds :D

Thank you Lone_Wolfe.
Here's a close up I took of the pin.

I was at a knife show a number of years ago and I talked to a person that was selling GB slabs for knives. Turns out CB is one of the most durable natural materials. The bone typically will dry in the sun for years. It is also very dense due to the fact that the leg bones (what the scales are made from) are very dense due to the fact that they are relatively small and are reqiured to hold a lot of weight. My 2003 LE is GB and I edc'd it for a couple years with no probs. The color of mine looks like yours Lisa. Great find!

That looks great. I have got a Giraffe bone Mnandi from a limited run of 50 (number 50/50) and it is one of my most treasured knives.
The colour on the bone is mucht lighter than yours, but I like both ;)

You're going to follow up that matter-of-fact mentioning of your GB LE with a photo, right? ;)

Check out the thread started by Dave H about CRK folders. A picture of mine is on the first page. It's the pictures only one. Right now I don't have a digital camera.

Yes!! Thanks Lisa. I'm a bit of a computer illiterate. I love my bark ivory mnandi too.

Wow... That annual with the giraffe bone is so sweet. It really stands out on its own and is very unique looking compared to other Sebenzas.
If CRK could do a run of Giraffe inlayed 21's Id be all over that one.

It couldn't hurt to call CRK and see if this could be done. Like I said it's supposed to be an awesome, durable handle material. It can be dyed to various colors and I don't believe it's very expensive. I haven't seen many CRK inlays with GB. Maybe it's not too popular but most likely CRK is so busy they might not want to do it. It wears well and I can personally attest to that. I rode my motorcycle from Orange County CA to Boise to pick that baby up and it stayed in my front pocket all the way home then carried it a couple years and now it is a safe queen. The GB seller at the knife show assured me that giraffes are not raised or killed for their bones but they are found drying in the sun. Some knife people mock GB as a cheap substitue for ivory. Not me!!! I like it.
