I'm completely new to pocket knives. I'm moving into a bigger city and will be walking around a lot, so I feel it's kind of necessary. I want something nice and effective, but girly. I'm into all of the pink stuff and have been looking around, but most of them are very cheap. Any recommendations? Thanks! :p

Check out the Spyderco Native in Pink. Awesome knife, great steel, amazing feel, perfect EDC size, feels good in the pocket, and is relatively inexpensive depending on where you find it.
Spyderco also just let out the Spyderco Dragonfly 2 in Pink. Again an awesome knife and cheaper than the native. The FFG makes it an awesome slicer.

Spyderco also has the Tattoo models. They have the Ladybug(more of a Keychain knife), Cricket(different looking but an awesome little edc knife), and Dragonfly(same knife mentioned before only with SS handles and the tattoo etching, so it's thinner and the etching is just awesome).

CRKT Shrimp. Comes in purple and pink, among other flavors. Small, but 1 tough little bugger, and only around $30.

Spyderco Native or Spyderco Squeak.

And here is a picture of the said Spyderco Squeak for reference.

A Spyderco Native or a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian would be my top choices. If those are too large, the Boker Subcom and Kershaw Scallion also come in pink.

If you're on a tight budget, the Ontario RAT2 is a great buy for less than $30 and it comes in pink as well.

I was gonna say the scallion and rat 2 also if you really want girly id look for a spyderco painted dragonfly

The Kershaw Leek comes in Pink and Rainbow. The Scallion also comes in Rainbow and I believe the Chive does as well.

It doesn't come in pink, but the CRKT Ripple is wholly inoffensive and nonthreatening (as far as knives go). If you get it in blue it is even less threatening. Or get the Aluminum version and have somebody anodize it whatever color you want!

By effective do you mean effective in a EDC roll or effective in a self defense roll? Any of the knives recommended above would work great in a EDC roll but none of them would work very well in a self defense roll unless you have been trained properly. Also welcome to the forum !!!

A purple spyderco Delica4 is a really really great knife. Its not to big to carry around and its also very light so it carries in the pocket very well. I know its not pink but the purple still keeps it girly for ya :)

There's also a pink Ka-bar Dozier Folding Hunter and a pink Kershaw Chive (which is smaller than the others).

Here's my pink Mini Grip. It, and the Delica, Dozier and Rat 2 are about the same size, give or take teensy bit around the handle, based on manufacturer's specs. I have a Delica, but not the other two, so I can't comment on how those two feel in hand. The Delica is pretty much flat on the sides and the Mini Grip has a bit of a swell to it that makes it feel better in my hand. The opening hole on the Delica is easier for my clumsy left hand to work but with my right hand I prefer the thumb studs on my Mini Grip.
