Some folks wonder why would I carry a traditional knife in a sheath? as a lot of people would say you should just drop it in your pocket and go about your day. Now I do have some knives that ride in such a manner, but I also like the ability to carry one on the belt, just handier when you're seated or easier to get to when you need to cut something quickly. Plus I think they're nice, but then, I am biased :)

BUT the point of this thread is, I have in my possession a document signed by Mr Tony Bose, it is from the BoseKnives legal department that grants me a waiver to carry a knife in such a manner. Here is the document for those that may have wondered about such a thing, I've whited out the bulk of Tony's and my signature just to protect his signature, but left enough showing so you will recognize that it was indeed signed by him ;)

So there, I have permission, it's a pretty good read down if you have the time.

So, those of you that want to carry a knife like this, and be legal, I suggest you contact your lawyer and have them contact the BoseKnives legal dept to see if they might grant you a wavier as well. :D

Thanks again Tony!

Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's right! :D
But to each his own.

That's true, but, I have papers ;)

They must have been "snowed in" at Wilfred Works that day!! :p:p:p

I already knew that Tony was an anti-purse guy!!! :D

I must admit I'm feeling a bit embarrassed after reading this .
I never knew that conducting the " Activity " was a ladies only act .
I have been blissfully unaware and can only imagine what others have been saying about me behind my back .
When I think about it though it does explain the funny looks I get and the giggling that often follows me when I walk down the street .
As soon as I read this I untucked my shirt to cover up the two purses I have on my belt .
Its informative posts like this that make this forum a great place and make it a true place of learning .
Gary , I would never ask you do anything untoward or illegal , but I wonder if its possible to provide myself and others like me with a , well let's just say " doctored " version of this Waiver that substitutes your name with my own ?
I eagerly await your response and maybe your suggestions that could possibly remedy the predicament I find myself in .

:)

Ken, I'm afraid that would both be untoward and illegal to email out documents of this nature, you will just need to knuckle down and present yourself before the court and see if you can have one sent to you.

Now, I had mine shrunk down and laminated for my wallet, sure is hard to read, but that way I have it with me at all times !

;)

Lol.

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with a man taking care of his tools. The sheath is a way to do that.

Hang on there a second Gary. Tony used the word "pouch" in his description of a girly knife purse in Note 1. Much more like a pocket slip than a belt sheath. Surely, Tony would not include a sheath in his interpretation of a girly knife purse as knife sheaths have been used by manly men for centuries - oh, and also by head-strong girls with grit and determination such as Pertinux (Sarah).

It seems the agreement between you and Tony is suitable for framing.

Thanks for posting it.

I carry a pocket slip most of the time in the heat of summer, as I fish a lot at the lake and wear shorts a lot. The pocket slip is very helpful in keeping the knife in my pocket, throughout the summer. In the remaining seasons, I don't use them. They could be girly. :D

Of course some guys think that men wearing shorts is girly, also!!:D

Does the colour of the belt sheath have any influence on the perceived infraction ?

Might go down in history as the greatest thread. Well at least for today!

After laughing out loud for minutes... I did take issue with said document.

Easy for the guy who makes Thousands of dollars from every knife he sells to call it "girly" to protect them w/ a slip. He can just make another one after ruining it or sell one to get what he wants.

I don't own a Bose, but if I did... you better believe I would put it in whatever pouch/purse/slip/sheath needed to protect my investment! Just like I do w/ any knife on my hip/pocket. Its why I have a gun safe, weapons holsters, covers cases. Why I have a garage and shingles on my roof to protect my house.

I could not just make another or buy another Bose... that is if I ever get one! Ha... people like me might never own such an amazing knife.

Wander if Tony applies this same approach with all "his" nice things? If from all the money he has made... if he could purchase a Z06 Corvette, would he leave it in the rain at night, drive it in the mud, or not put it in the garage? Maybe so, maybe no.

I wander if he puts his over/under shotgun (Benalli, Bretta or some custom probably) in the case when going to the range? Or what about the custom .45 he may or may not have. What about the super nice rife? Just food for thought.

:D Did I mention that I love this thread?

As for me, I have served this country in some very hairy situations, traveled the world, killed many things, lived outside, fought for what I believed in, worked till may hands bleed, I hunt, lift weights, shoot for fun, am a member of the NRA, Have never lost a Arm-wrestling match or a Fight (that I can remember), I love my wife and my kids like Christ loves me... I am not perfect.. but I am a MAN.

AND I CARRY MY KNIVES IN SLIPS/SHEATHS & POUCHES!

HA HA HA! What great fun. Thanks Gary for posting this. Keep your man card!

yes this one has a TC design on it. Does your gun have a checkered design on the stock? Or your gun case have a design on it?

I would imagine you're safe, as long as you're not trying to match any accessories to this bold, yet not entirely un-attractive case. :D This is all predicated on the fact that you have in your possession a notarized copy of an official affidavit giving you full permission to participate in said "Activity."

For now my stance is "it's a POCKET knife". But I'm wavering and may need the waiver, my slipjoint seems to take more of beating in the pocket than other knives I carry.

Pics of said sheath? :D

~Jim

Hi SonnyJim, that name reminds me of the movie Jumanji where he called him SonnyJim ;)

But the waiver was a general one from Tony to me, as he knew my penchant for sheath making so there wasn't a sheath/pouch that it wasn't for any one in particular.

And nice guys lol glad you are finding the humour in this and yes a frame would be good for that wavier!
