"Give Away" knives

I'm heading up to spend a week with my parents / siblings in Minnesota in a couple weeks.

I'm thinking about bringing a few of my production folders that I'm less-than-excited about as gifts.

I'm thinking the CRKT Tanto combo-edge Kiss for my 11yr old sister.
Maybe the small Combo-edge Vele Wasp for my 15yr old sister.

Can't decide on what to give my dad -- liner locks seem to confuse him, so I'm thinking maybe the Timberline Discovery lock. Great knife, but I've got a ton of other knives around that size and the tanto edge is a PIA to sharpen. The Gerber EZ-out is another candidate.

Thoughts? They're not really "knife" people, so no point in giving them something really, really cool. I was also thinking about ordering a couple of CRKT Sampsons KISS (plain edge) knives for my grandfathers.

What do others consider good "give away" or "gift" knives?

gerber e-z-out & e-z-out jr. make great gift knives! i've given them and they've been loved by non-knife people (not quite sheeple, though).
crkt sounds good. lots of knife for little $$.
schrade, too, tends to make alright blades that are fine for non-collectors.
peace.

Thanks. Yeah, just typing the message made me think about it a little more.

I'm going to give him the EZ-out. With my 154CM EDC on the way, I sure won't miss the Gerber.

If your going with Stainless 154CM is the way to go.

IMO, the Spyderco Cricket and Ladybug would either one be great gifts for you sisters. just a thought

Perhaps if I can get them "hooked". Right now I'm mostly talking about left-over knives that I've grown disenchanted with anyway.

I think I might give my brother-in-law my Gerber "Fred Carter" Utility I (AUS-8A) as well.

I would be a little worried about giving an 11 year old a CRKT KISS. They are neat little knives but a little easy to unlock while using if one isn't careful. I've given away a few different zytel handled Spydercos, and a few SAKs. The Victorinox Pioneer is a good knife for a reasonable price that I've given some knifeless friends.

I was a little nervous about it, but I remembered I was given a Ka-bar folder (about the size of a Buck 112, I think) around 5th grade. Carried it on my belt all the way through high-school (those were the days!). Only one permenant scar to show for it. :-(

In reality, I think my sisters are more into guns than knives, but it's something I can give 'em without breaking the bank.

Mike, kid sisters' more into guns than knives ??? Great family, there. My sixteen year old daughter would rather shoot my 1911 .45 than do anything else. Got to love those girls!!! :)
