Give me a lesson on Case Trappers

I've just gotten interested in traditional folders. I've figured if I'm going to go traditional, i want it to be really traditional and the trapper size should not be a problem for me for edc. Trying to do alot of research on this before I go to a town in a couple of weeks that has a Case store. I know I want the CV blades. I also like the name Case encircled on the scales rather than the small Case xx that is hard to read. I'm really liking the yellow scales but I'd like something bright and like bone that will wear smoother over time.
How do the dark red bone scales wear? Do they darken or lighten with age? I'd prefer them to darken and not look pink down the road.
Tell me anything I should know about Case Trappers.
Thanks.

Well, CV steel limits your handle choices. The Dark Red bone can look pretty good, but "dark" is a matter of opinion. If you get a good dye job then they look fine. I like the Chestnut bone myself, but that's a matter of personal preference. I really can't tell you how the new ones would wear over time because not enough time has passed yet. :)

The current offerings in CV pretty much just have the standard Case small logo shield on the handles, except for the Sawcut Amber bone and Stag Rancher versions, which has it embellished on the handles near the bolsters.

The yellow Delrin CV has the oval Case shield with the word Case encircled by another oval, and not the script logo shield.

Local dealers tend to charge more than on-line but you get the benefit of looking at them first. Unless your dealer is a Platinum or above, their selection may be limited to only a few handle choices, usually yellow Delrin, Amber Bone, and brown jigged Delrin. Do some on-line shopping first to get a feel for what a fair price should be.

i got one, i wanted one for awhile and when i got a promotion (and raise) i picked me up one. Now i thought long and hard about whether to make a new post or post this here since its a trapper post (if you like i can delete and/or make a new post).
But i wanted to say, i dont care for it, at least not the way i thought i would. when i have the clip blade out and am bearing down on it, i can FEEL the spey blade depress and its just weird. My mini-trappers didnt do that, or at least not so i could notice, but the full size trapper does and its just not all that comfortable (not to imply its UNCOMFORTABLE ..just bugs me). Does anyone else have that experience or am i just weird?

Thanks for the useful info Jc57. I might just be after a yellow trapper after all. I"m going to check those amber stag bones.
I don't mind the pics Rsmith_77! the more the better.

Case yellow trappers are great buy one and you won't be sorry.
RS Smith I don't seem to recall having that problem.
God Bless
Tracy
