I am fairly new to knives and just got a WE Banter.
And I was wondering if there are any mods/upgrades out there for it?
I've tried searching but some game thing keeps popping up in the search results, definitely not knife related.
So I figured I'd ask you fine folk.

I'm not sure what I am looking for, so throw me all the WE Banter things- o ring sizes for thumbstuds (& where to get them), other thumbstuds (in different colors or metals), back spacers, etc. I dunno 🤷🏼‍♀️ like I said I am new to knives.

I have been told about the Mars Kitty and while it is cool, I am not interested lol.

TIA

I had to look your knife up.
At $100, I'd suggest that you do not spend money to mod the knife as you could easily end-up spending more than the price of the knife, or even double the price.

Instead, save your dough, and spend it on your next knife, because you will be buying more knives after this, and they will probably cost much more than this one.

For this knife, I suggest you do things like sharpening, & learn how to tie different lanyards or a monkeyfist for it, and add a nice lanyard ring to it because you can always transfer these skills & the ring to future knives.

Does the Banter run on bearings? If so, upgrading to Skiff bearings might only be $10-15.

A quick google search shows that aftermarket scales are a thing for this knife. Doing a deep dive of thirty seconds, I see carbon fiber for around $50 and titanium for around $80 (with additional options for a fee). However, not everything is in stock.

I've gone back and forth on aftermarket scales. Depending on which product you select, you could buy a whole Civivi for the same price. Effectively, you could get another great long-term EDC knife for the same price. They're out of stock but if you got the Way of Knife titanium scales with a design option like bead-blasted finish, you'd have spent more than the cost of the knife you'd be putting them on. I'd really have to be in love with a knife to justify that kind of expense.

The good news is, is that I got the knife used and at a fraction of that... luckily.
I have a few knives now and definitely did have to learn to do some lanyards for them, so this one will for sure be getting one ;) lol.
I am still in need of learning how to sharpen soon.
I am trying (really trying) to stay away from the more expensive knives. I do not want to spend a lot or have a lot of knives lol... I say that now, don't quote me later 🤣

I am not sure. This one kind of fell into my lap, haven't done much research yet.
I already found someone that had some copper (my preferred metal of choice) scales that they didn't want anymore (they swapped for the Mars Kitty), so I just snagged those.

I will definitely be looking into this knife more and trying to see what I can find out about it. Just google wasn't being my friend and kept showing me some Banter game thing lol
Thank you

To me, for this particular size folder, switching from one type of bearings to another would be fun and total waste of money even the parts are not terribly expensive.
The knife is fine the way it is, it got nice steel, I’m not sure if the black blade model is some coating or paint/ceracote but either way it’s a small knife, IMO switching bearings will give you negligible difference.
I’d mostly go for different scales but not titanium, they cost almost the same as the knife itself and are some how plain.
The original “natural” scales look good to me, but this is only me… Just as they suggested, I’d put my money in sharpening tools or skills before I “upgrade” this little thingy…

A set of Skiffs, and some nice replacement scales; might be a good way for you to figure out just how much you like tinkering with your knives.
Go for it! 👍

Nice for some folks, but never did anythng more fancy than switching scales. Give her hell.

I would say skiff or taco bearings, unlocked composite scales, and a rhino glow thumb stud. Hmmm…

Optional mods? Sure.
But I don't see much that needs modding.
The bearings, thumb studs, clip, scales and steel are all perfect for these folders.

I have two of the Banters and two of the Baby Banters.
I prefer the Baby as a pocket-EDC -- with its forward choil, I can get three and a half fingers on this little guy.
