What can this knife:

do better than this knife:

???

I really don't see why anyone would purchase a Cold Steel Leatherneck over a KA-BAR. The Cold Steel is extremely similar in design to the KA-BAR, just it has cheaper steel and isn't made in the USA. The Leatherneck does have a thicker spine (less than 1mm difference) and I believe a thicker tang, but I still don't see why anyone would want a Leatherneck more than a KA-BAR .

I'd love to hear your opinion :D. Discuss.

Oh, and please don't turn this into a "Cold Steel steals designs!!!" thread :p. Thanks.

It seems like cold steel did a good job, until they chose 4116 steel. Theres no way 4116 will perform as well as kabars 1095 cv, so any extra beefiness in the cold steel doesnt matter because of the steel choice. Kabar all the way, not that the leatherneck is a bad knife (the flat grind is nice) but the steel just falls short, originals are usually better anyways.

They did offer something nice (and different) when they had the FFG and AUS-8 Leathernecks. I don't understand why they changed it.

I handled a leatherneck in person and was very underwhelmed, it felt flimsy compared to a ka bar. The whole knife didn't have the balance a ka bar does and didn't feel good in the hand. Just seemed like a cheap copy.

I'd choose the Kabar as well for the reasons already mentioned. I just wish Kabar would make a longer handle. 4.75 inches is one of the shorter handles around when you look at the 6 and 7 inch blades on hunting/camping type knives.

The Kabar's made here. If I was comparing between the two, that would seal the deal for me.
