I'm an infrequent contributor to WS&S.

In 2008, Kevin organized a get-together in Connecticut. Marty and Aggie Simon were there and I videotaped a plant walk they conducted. Well, I :o finally :o got around to burning that to DVD and Marty OK'd the distribution (thanks!,) hence the giveaway.

To participate, post a link to the WS&S skill-oriented thread that you found particularly useful.

Two hitches - it can't be about a knife   and to the winners, please don't post the video on YouTube or other such sites.

I'll select 2 winners at random and get them a copy. Contest ends 1/72010 or when interest tapers off.

Haven't seen you in awhile. Hope all has been good with you!

I am not entering as I was at that plant walk, allthough a bit hung over.:o
However, I purchased Marty's plant video, and have had the honor of attending a few other plant walks he has done....

Very cool give away bro!

I don't normally enter contests, I'd rather leave stuff for you youngin's as I have accumulated gear for lo these many years , but this one speaks to me. My problem is I don't have a search feature, so I'm going to prevail upon a forum member to try and locate my favourite.

Stay tuned. :D

OK, here's my link. It's not the original one, but it will suffice. I love trap triggers - the mechanics, the simplicity, the effectiveness. I love the creativity of the early peoples that depended on them for food, to a large degree. Also the creativity of more modern folk, who came up with the newer designs. The Arapuca is one of my favourites.

A couple of interesting things happened since I first posted in this thread - first of all, Grandson found the link(s) for me - Thanks GS! :D

Secondly, a forum member, very generously offered me his copy of Marty Simon's plant walk. Many thanks again! Because of this, I'm withdrawing from the contest.

I have to say, I'm constantly being blown away by the generosity and helpfulness of almost everybody on this forum.

Sure, there are a few individuals who seem to enjoy starting a ruckus here, but luckily, they are very few, and I hope they will soon come to appreciate what an excellent resource this is, and act accordingly. (No, I don't want to buy your underwater property in Florida! :grumpy: )

OK, enough of the maudlin.

All you guys that have posted that you need to upgrade your plant ID skills - get on this. What are you waiting for?

Would you guys rather that this become a DVD passaround? Those who have a DVD writer could make a copy and pass the original on ...

Just a thought.

I do believe I have set record for fewest number of entries to a WSS contest. To that end, here are the winners:

Yup, everyone who entered (Tony, you can get one too if you wish.)

E-mail me your snail-mail address (videogiveaway@gmail.com) and I'll try to get them out next week.

Congrats!

Yesterday, despite the fact that I withdrew from the contest (see above), I still received a copy of the 2008 Connecticut Plant Walk DVD, which I just finished watching.

halo2, thank you very much for your generosity, and BTW, you did a fantastic job on producing it.:thumbup: I enjoyed it muchly.

Haven't seen you in awhile. Hope all has been good with you!

Yes, GS, I saw what you mean :( - enough to make a person give up drinking.

As I also mentioned I received a copy of Marty Simon's Plant Walk DVD from another generous forum member.

Having watched both videos, I can only regret not being able to visit Marty Simon in person, but for those of you that can, I strongly recommend that you do. It looked like a lot a fun, but more importantly, very informative.

And for you *&^%$$s that didn't enter the contest despite having a stated interest in learning more plants, well, you snooze, you lose. :D
