Have you ever received something in the mail that you had no idea of who could have sent it? I did once and ever since have wondered - what if I turned that around. So, while in Redding, CA for a doctors appointment the other day, I randomly wrote down the street name we were on and a street number of a house on that street. When we got home, I boxed up this very knife and mailed it to the random address. No note in the box and the return address used on the box - "General Delivery" Klamath Falls, OR.

I hope whoever (or is it whomever) gets the knife can use it and will appreciate it. I'll never know. Heck we'll never know but at least it's a novel giveaway.

Edited to add: I addressed the box to "Current Resident"

That is really cool! I'm sure that family will be talking about the day that random knife knife showed up in their mailbox for years to come.
Now, I just hope they know how to maintain carbon steel.

Astounding! Just think if it turns out to be a forum member:eek::cool:

I find the idea really appealing:D:thumbup:

Thanks, Will

Really cool. I just hope that whomever gets it really appreciates it too. Very generous of you.

I was thinking the same thing.

Very cool idea, Modoc ED!

Incredibly generous. Alas, I guess that 99+% of the populace does not know GEC from Frost from anything. That puts the chance of the owner appreciating what sh/e receives as really low. Still, very nice of you.

That's really cool! I'm thinking they might research it and become a fan of traditional knives.

I read this earlier today and believe this may be one of the best GAWs that has been done.

Thank you for sharing Ed.

They'll probably think it's a GEC promotional knife, 1 of 50,000 made and sent out, to try and garner new customers.

You are to be commended Ed, generosity in life often is contagious. It's always great to hear of someone spreading joy when possible.

I wonder if the people just leave it in the box until they receive a bill.
I'm always leery about receiving mysterious stuff I didn't order. And, I am pretty peeved when I can't find out more about why I got the merch.

Perhaps I should google "free knife in mail" and see if this thread pops up. Haha

That's just me though.

Please don't let my cynicism diminish the generosity or intent of Eds good deed. That's pretty cool you did that though.

Ed- that was absolutely fantastic of you Sir. A wonderful thing to do - I hope the person who receives the knife is a person who is deserving to this amazing generosity.
Ed Sir- Thank You.
