I was lucky to win Fausto's giveaway PLUS some meat and cheese! So, all credit to Fausto, I am starting a new tradition. This GA will be for a knife and something representative of where you live. I live in wine country. The winner of this GA will get a SAK (never used, given to my Uncle in law as a gift - he passed it on to me....OK, I opened a few beers with it). I think I even have the box and papers. I'll look, pretty sure. It will come with a bottle of wine from one of my riding buddies who works at a private winery in Cloverdale. I will cover shipping and whatnot. All I ask is that you pass it on. I like this idea. I think it should become a regular thing.

So. Great knife. Vic Officer. Pretty much mint. Bottle of reserve wine TBD.

Winner must be a regular poster here in Traditional land (let your conscience be your guide). I would like to see a pic of the most beautiful place near your house. And then I would like to see a pic of a knife, some fine wine, and some scenery. :) I'll start.

And the knife (I don't dig on plastic SAKs myself, but this is a REAL nice one).

My daughter will draw names or numbers on June 16th. Thanks to Fausto, and many happy returns for everyone.

Not an entry. But, thanks for the fine give-away.

I like this picture and have posted it before. It's a pond about half a mile from my house as the crow flies. I am fascinated by landscapes containing reflections in water.

I'm an avid hiker of the local area so I've got tons of photos. Here are a few of my favorites:

count me in! thanks for the opportunity

I happen to live in Santa Barbara, so it's a bit of a destination area, more then a few hiking trails and a very active sea life

I'm not going to enter, although I appreciate your generosity, simply because I can't promise that I would have the ability to do a GA in return, my life is a hectic one :o But I would like to post a few pics Ive taken of some beautiful places ;)

Not an entry, just wanted to say thank you.
The "giveaway plus" thing was a very casual birth...I just liked the idea of sharing something more from my homeland, which I'm proud of. I live far from most of you, and many of you won't probably have the chance to come over here to visit my island and taste our food...so this was meant to be a little surrogate for it :) I'm happy that you liked the idea and keep it going. By the way, your package will ship tomorrow (although I assume it will take at least one week to get there).
Meanwhile, thank you for this, and for your contribution to this forum. The winner will enjoy the wine (I know wine is more popular on this side of the ocean, but I'm sure that it will be appreciated anywhere), and the SAK...well, no words needed for sure.

Fausto

Can't wait, Fausto.

And Frank, I share your obsession. This is my favorite lake.

BUMP. Gotta say I'm surprised...you do know I'm giving away a knife AND booze, right???? ;)

Not an entry Dan, 'cause I've already won one knife from you ..... but I'll bump the thread for ya. ;)

This is looking out from my back deck this morning - got lucky and captured the lightening bolt!

Here's my entry (since I seem to spend the most of my time in the Traditional section these days); a snap from a recent camping trip to Joshua Tree National Park, and then a bit of old grape juice in my backyard next to where I smoke the occasional pipe

Thank you kindly for the opportunity! Good luck to all :)

Thank you Dan, very generous of you!

While not the most beautiful place near my house, with the emphasis on MOST, I happen to think our front yard in the spring is the most beautiful place near my house, with the emphasis on NEAR. We live in the city limits but are surrounded by old growth hardwood trees, and in the spring when the dogwoods bloom it is quite lovely. The visual beauty is enhanced by all the amazing birdsongs we hear throughout the day from our tree-dwelling neighbors (and the owls after sundown).

Here are two I just took moments ago, showing the trees more full of leaves than in the previous two taken weeks ago, and one of our tree-dwelling friends making dinner preparations.

I don't own an Opinel, and my son has his at college with him, so the french ivory celluloid of the Wadsworth will have to stand in for a french knife next to the french fine wine. The background scenery is one of the last remaining azaleas in bloom. I'll post a few bloom shots I took a couple weeks ago after the wine/knife shot.

When in bloom we have several different shades of azaleas.

I don't have any wine (kinda hard to get decent stuff where I am) but here is a pic just up the road from me...I love that tree.

Man, you folks sure do have some nice homesteads. This is not an entry as I have already won two knives on this forum since I joined and I would like to give others a chance.

The knives are my everyday carry knives. The wine is a bottle of Crimson Moon from a nearby winery. I don't really consider myself a wine connesuer (can't even spell it) but I have tried a few in my days and this Crimson Moon is my favorite. It is only available at the winery and I feel very fortunate to live close enough to stay stocked up on it. It's a Port style wine with 18% alcohol by volume and it only comes in 375ml bottles. That's all I need too. One bottle yields about two glasses and a real nice buzz. It tastes really, really good too. A true masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.

For scenery, here's a shot I took while standing on Long's Peak in Colorado looking east toward Denver.
