Hey all,
i have recently been on the right end of some great W&SS generosity and need to pass on the love.
this is my second giveaway. my first one went smooth as can be. it's nice to see some stuff you have collecting dust get some use by like-minded people.
this is for a custom i've had for some years that hasn't been used once. it might not be pretty, and it might make some of us "knife snobs" turn our heads a little haha, but it's a sharp piece of steel that should do someone some good.
if anyone has a nephew, friend, son, daughter or otherwise that they think could use a serviceable piece of sharpened steel then chime in.
anyone at all can enter. what i would LOVE to see is pics of FILLET knives being used!!! they get too little talk around here. if you can't get a pic or aren't a fisherman, then substitute for any other knife cutting any other kind of meat. there must be someone out there that knows someone that could use this knife that's collecting dust for me...
i'll get better pics later this weekend. and i'll keep the thread open for a week give or take.
it is knife number 6 in these photos.

it ain't the perfect bush knife, but it is a knife that will work well in the bush. i'll get the measuring tape out when i take new pics. the swedge is not sharpened, and the handle is a little on the small side. might make a great knife for a younger one.

I've got a good friend who like's to hike/Camp & I've got him into Bushcraft. He doesn't have alot of money & I've been helping him along the way. He would really love this knife. I don't have any knife/meat pics so I'll post a pic of my Favorite :D

Coaldigger, that's just the kinda post i was looking for...great pic except i don't need another excuse to pull the trigger on another one of his knives! haha.

I am gonna pass on the entry. I already received a generous gift from a member giveaway. I will try to dig up some fillet knife pictures. I have a hand full of fillet knives but few pictures of them actually cutting. People generally think I am strange for taking such pictures, especially with no people in them. They look at you even stranger when you tell them they are for your friends on the internet.

Here is my buddy with a dexter russel. It was a long day filleting

This is a benchmade folding fillet knife.

They all work pretty good. The benchmade really seems to hold a nice edge. It rides in my camp kitchen box or sometimes my day pack. I have a gerber gaiter fillet that has a really nice flex to it. The Dex Rus is a good fillet knife but it handles a little different because its tip isnt swept back like most of my fillet knives. I have filleted over 25 fish this week. Nothing under about 2lbs.

Hope more pics get posted. I am still looking for that ultimate fillet.

Matt

here are some pics as promised...like i said, she may not be pretty, but she works...coaldigger's i think you're in the lead right now haha. first of 1.

I have a friend that I am trying to get into bushcraft, He has been camping a couple times, and he likes it, so I want him to try bushcraft. having a knife like this to give him could help get him into it. No filet knives, but a rat rc-6

My son likes the knife so my entry is for him, probably the smallest knife you'll see in this thread !

bump. no need to join in, we all don't need this knife, i just don't want it collecting dust. i'd still like to see some more fillet knives at work though! haha
i have a custom on order from bruce culberson that's in the works. i'm craving them.

I've got a buddy I'm hoping will join me in learning bushcraft.
I just set him up with an altoids tin PSK yesterday.

...hmmm unfortunately I'm not a fisherman...I need to find some meat to cut.

Dang goat - that custom giveway is a lot nicer than the Buck you got ;)

I don't have any fillet knife in use shots and don't want to participate as a contestant on this one (I've been pretty lucky myself in giveways lately), but I'll throw up some fish pictures :D

My favorite use for a knife! I couldn't filet the trout and take a pic at the same time. I'm multi-tasking challenged!!!

I'm the recipient of some of your generosity already so I'll sit this one out but I'm certain the winner will be happy with their prize.

I think it is a fine looking knife. Do you know what steel?
