Given an old IXL

A friend gave me this old IXL today.
It is marked IXL George Wostenholm Sheffield England on the main blade and the back of the mainblade is marked "stainless" ....yet the pen blade has ENTIRELY rusted away! It is gone with only a rusted nub remaining. That must be the worst Stainless ever created I am guessing this must have been built during hard years for IXL.

This looks like your knife in a 1960ish catalogue... see bottom centre. The blade was likely broken rather than rusted away.
