I have had the good fortune that now that I have started letting people know I am into "old knives" that some friends have started giving me their "Junk" that they don't want :) I was given the IXL with a broken blade yesterday and today was gifted with this old Imperial . No idea what it's called so I posted it in Levine's forum to see if anyone can ID it there. From the "Imperial Providence R.I." tang stamp I would guess it's from the Depression Era.
It's rough but it was free and I like it :) It will get some pocket time tomorrow.

Nice to see an old knife getting some pocket time :)

Nice knife, looks easy on the pocket

Here is a Imperial tang stamp chart to help you date it

Are they not neat little knives? No idea what Imperial called them back in the day but I love mine and like you said like carrying a razor in your pocket :)

It looks like a plain 'ol Jack Knife with a cool shield, and yeah, the old Imperials sharpen up real nice.
My EO Jack has the same tang stamp & is a razor.
Nice piece of "junk",congrats Slim.
