Giving Benchmade another try

So today I received three new to me Benchmade. I got a 522bk Presidio Ultra, 555 Mini Grip, and a 2550bt first production Mini Reflex. So far my impressions are that I really like the 522, the 555 is too small so will probably trade away and get a 550, and the 2550 is just not my style and will be going on the exchange. Anything y'all would suggest trying when I get rid of the others?

531BK is nice if you want a super light weight but classy EDC.

Any Grip can be made into a REAL nice knife using some of the custom scale makers here.

If you decide you don't want that 522BK, let me know. I had a regular 522 and sold it. I've regretted it ever since!

950 Rift for sure, had mine for at least 2 years, wouldn't part with it.
Also, at the moment there is a good online dealer with a dealer exclusive 950 with S30V and black and orange G10 scales at a good price.
Prefer the black and gray G10 myself, but the S30V is nice.
Don't think I can name the dealer here, but some googling should find it for you.

One of my biggest issues with bm has been the price to materials used ratio. S30v is one of my favorites, have had quite a few Spydies with it. How does the heat treats compare?

Here's a few pics for size comparison purposes. If you like the size of the 522, I'd suggest you try the Rift, Triage, or Barrage. The Griptillian falls into that same size category as well.

Benchmade does an excellent job with their heat treat for 154CM and S30V. You won't go wrong with either one. Oddly, the shoppe that sells this particular cutlery, has the s30v version priced less than the stock 154CM version. If I weren't holding out for M390 (and if it didn't have the orange and black scales), I would have picked one up.

The site for this company seems to be suspended. So I take that as a sign I probably shouldn't do business with them any way. I think I would be fine with 154cm. Have seen some other models I would like to try that run m390(no experience) the 710 for example looks like it would be worth a look.

I have 3 BMs with S30V, 790 Subrosa, 940 and 943, and the feel of sharpening them and their edge retention seems very similar to my Spydies with S30V, so in my amateur opinion I would say BM's heat treat is good.

I agree with you about BM's price to materials ratio, and in fact that is why I very rarely buy a new BM anymore. But I think the S30V Rift in question is reasonably priced if you want one.

Also, the Shoppe in question is very reliable and helpful, I have used it many times over the past 4 years and always been satisfied, I have no hesitation in recommending him.
