He spent some 24 years as a Navy Corpsman, much of the time attached to the Marines. He's the closest thing to a Marine that this family will ever have.
As I have just purchased another large fixed -- survival/SD -- blade, I won't be needing two.

Eventually he'll inherit my whole collection of knives and guns. What a windfall that will be for him.

That's cool Sloop. I did the same except with a nephew.
Please thank your son for his service to our country.

Sloop, if your son was attached to the Marines ... then he is a Marine!

Please tell "Doc" (your son) an old Jarhead says, "Thank you and Semper Fi!"

That's cool, I'm sure he'll love it.
When I was 12 my dad gave me the schrade 33OT my grandfather sent him for Christmas in the mid 80's while he was off in the army, and that knife is so special to me that I now carry and use it even though it was sold with major blade play. Turns out I don't even notice during use.

Btw why is being or not being a Marine a big deal ?
Joining any branch of the US military is honorable, weather US army , USMC, USN, USAF, or coast guard, they all wear a uniform with an American flag on it and do what's needs to be done.
