My nephew made Eagle Scout, he's been away working all summer and is finally home safe. He was in the area of the fires out west so we were somewhat worried.

Anyway, I could not decide what knife to give him for this ocaision, so I decided to open my vault and let him pick.

Thinking he can pick between all of the standard Buck and Becker models and KaBar mk1 mk2 variants. I'll post pics of his options, once I have them laid out. Be interesting which one he chooses.

Kind of sad, there is no brick and mortar store I know of anywhere around that has the selection I have.

Buck has a Model 500 option to add the Eagle Scout badge and Scouts name to the knife (custom order). There are a lot of Buck Knife dealers in eastern NC; all usually have the basic knives (110, 119, 105, 301, etc.) but not too many with a broad selection. OH

I thought of that, but he already has a 110, didn't know about the Duke. I think I will show him those and let him pick.

I have a great young friend that achieved Eagle Scout. I had given him multiple Buck knives but got him the Eagle Duke in addition. I would give him the Duke and then let him also pick from your stash. Being an Eagle Scout is a great achievement and deserves a knife, or two, that recognizes that. My congratulations to him. Hi Uncle Eveled, I'm your long lost nephew. If you don't mind I'd like to pick the 124 also... :D:D:D

Glad your nephew got home safely. Those fires are so dangerous they move with such speed you'd get trapped before you knew it...

Nice of you to let him pick from your collection...

Glad he made it home safe and sound.
Not to hijack but here is this morning's latest on the fire around Yosemite (about 20 miles away). It started July 13.
"MARIPOSA COUNTY – The Ferguson Fire grew by nearly 8,000 acres overnight and is now estimated at 89,633 acres with containment remaining at 35 percent."
These guys are working a 'dozer line.

He is a practical kid. I think he is going to pick the Leatherman Wave.

That 110 would be a good one, and making eagle scout is quiet an accomplishment.

Btw I probably would have been worried too, but then again I'm right in the middle of it so maybe not.
The North end of our county was evacuated, the air quality is too bad to go outside unless necessary, and it's constantly raining ash.
My particular location is in no fire danger though.

Great, durable gift from his uncle to commemorate a key event in his life - win, win, win! OH (Eagle Scout - 1969).
