Giving up on Cold Steel. Awful. ANY IDEA where to get a sheath?

I have one Black Bear Classic, picked up another one on Ebay, "Oops didn't realize it wasn't the right sheath, selling off my brother's collection he just died..."
Yeah, probably lying, but I didn't want to get involved on the off chance I was going to give a grieving family member more grief.

Cold Steel, in a word, sucks. The company that took them over - I have spoken to a dozen of their employees in different departments and they have zero experience with knives. They might as be selling widgets. Literally clueless, every last one of them.

They were supposed to be doing another run of these, but no one there even knows who is in charge of the department handling the factory handling the run. It's looney.

Since I already have one, I'm not particularly in the market for a custom sheath.

You guys are the pros on sheaths, any ideas? KInda hard to sell this knife without a sheath, and this isn't the trading forum so I really shouldn't be making any offers here, but if it's anyone's dream to own one of these and you can make a sheath I am open to suggestions.

thank you, that's the first helpful thing anyone has been able to tell me in like 2 years of trying to sort this out.

Are you looking to sell it because it doesn’t have a sheath, or you just want a sheath so you can sell it? I’m not really clear.

if you want to keep the knife, It’s not too hard to make a serviceable leather sheath, even if it’s not gorgeous. Leather, awl, hobby glue, and speed stitcher are all you need. Actually… you could just get leather, a riveter and drill some holes and that’d work just fine.

It is a bit unclear on what you are saying.

You bought a knife on Ebay and it came with the wrong sheath.

You contact Cold Steel and they don't have information on a new run that you say they are doing another run on. Did they claim that somewhere? On the website it just says out of stock.

Are you contacting them because you want a replacement sheath?

Over the past 2 years or so, they said on the phone they were doing another run.

Yes, I wanted any sheath that would work to securely hold it.

In the meantime, I found a sheath a friend made me and I actually put it in the classifieds with that sheath. It fits, but isn't as perfectly secure as the right sheath would be.

I mean, it wouldn't fall out if you were hiking or anything. But it's not the official sheath.

That's precisely what got me interested in learning how to make a sheath. I don't like being beholden to companies to produce replacements. Glad you got that worked out!

There are lots of top sheath makers on BladeForums who could make one for you. Have to agree that most factory sheaths are not the best -- kydex sheaths (ugly) that dull the edge, or thin leather sheaths that are barely adequate. I usually end up making my own serviceable leather sheaths, though they're a long ways from works of art.

I decided I am selling it ...with a sheath that was made for me long ago for another knife. I gave up on trying to find the "proper" CS sheath, and the sheath I have it paired with fits well enough and is like new, and really beautiful.
So TY anyway, i'm sure the buyer will be happy, didn't really want to give up this sheath but it's probably the best thing to do in this situation.
