Thanks in part to this great review ^^^ ! Also noticed a great price on the disco'd Coyote Tan version ( under $66 ppd ) That deal is sold out but maybe there are still some good deals available if you look ?

I've only had this baby for a few days and am still breaking her in , but I'm already very enthused about the potential for EDC . If you can get past the Cold Steel hating and the tactical hype , this is a real quality contender for a medium hard use , 3.5" blade , general utility folder . CTX-HXP steel with DLC coating . Tri-ad lock . Very ergonomic handle with multiple grip options . Wave thumb plate . Good blade shape for both slicing and stabbing / drilling . Strong spine and point but still fairly thin at the edge for slicing .

I believe this knife gets overlooked as a great working EDC knife because of the name and tacticool hype and deserves broader consideration for applications . YMMV !

I chose the Recon 1 for the sake of the extra half inch of blade, but I’m still not 100% sure I made the right decision. Glassbreaker bottoms on knives are actually really useful for breaking down cardboard boxes - just smash it through the bottom of the box and you don’t even need to get an edge involved.

Also, I’ve never really 100% loved the waves on CS knives except for on the Large Espada. For some reason, my pockets will actually get stuck under the wave plate. Happened with the Spartan and the Rajah, which kept me from carrying / keeping them.

Glad to hear you picked one up for a good deal. This is one of the few standby models Cold Steel makes that I haven’t at least handled. Maybe someday.

Speaking of breaking down boxes..
Yesterday with my micro Recon 1.
Love this knife.
I am looking at the AK47 Fixed actually. I'll see what they have at the parking lot sale. I might even get a second.

Good point about the utility applications of having that aluminum pommel . I'm not used to having a folder with a real pommel !

Love my code 4. Very capable knife. Very good slicer. Not just spydercos good at cutting.

It's a great knife. Very practical blade shape, nice size, and the unlined G-10 handle makes it quite light. I might have a different backspacer made, without the protruding glass breaker thingy.
