My Gladius arrived today, and words can barely express its awesomeness  :D

However, I noticed some rust on the Busse logo! This is straight out of the cardboard sheath - I cleaned the edge with isopropyl to get the leftover coating gunk off, but this part of the blade is untouched.

See a big version here (about 3.5 MB): http://feedbrian.smugmug.com/Hobbies/Knives/2010080618-10-524149/960899206_oYacU-O-2.jpg

None of my other Busses have this rust on the logo. Has anyone else seen this? Is it a common occurrence? Should I be worried?

I'll get some more photos of this beast in the morning when the light is better!

Rust on the logo  It's ruined. Send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly :D

I, personally, wouldn't worry about it. It all depends on if you are going to use it or want a safe queen.
If you are not happy with it call the shop and talk with someone. I'm sure they will make it right

That's BLOOD... it was used in combat.

I'm not used to double-edged blades, so the first blood it draws will probably be mine!

Okay, I guess I won't worry about this. My only regret... is that there are no trees nearby in need of chopping down

...or barbarian hordes to repel! :D

... or zombies.

BTW, I would highly advise against letting a Gladius bite you. :thumbdn: ;)

That's what JWB stains look like on INFI. Jerry must have sharpened that one personally! ;)

Put some flitz on some Qtips and it should rub right off.

Do you live in a salty marsh?

But seriously, if the logo got touched with sweaty fingers, then shipped to a humid local (or for that matter got damp in transit, which has happened to a lot of mail). I had a finger print rust ever so slightly on a satin blade that came from the coast. It came right off, and has never happened again here (no ocean near by, and naked INFI does not rust where I am at).

Congrats on your score, But once you beat on it some the scotch or blood stains won't matter much.:D

That's funky looking. I wouldn't be surprised if it was some shipper's blood. Either that or decarb ?

Doesn't matter much, you've got a Gladius! It's not like you won't get worse things on the blade. Wish I had enough scratch to get one.

I really like the Gladius and I will help you out with your problem. Just send it my way and I will chop some Elm and scrub Oak with it.
