Gladius Cg vs LE thickness?

any difference? If Not I may not be able to justify the price difference...

You can't justify the price difference then you shouldn't get it. The price is driven up by many factors, the most important of which is how much people are willing to pay for one. Second the amount of work that went into one.

If you consider the prices of some MOAB's then Gladious is perfectly well priced. And the amount of work it would take to turn that much infi into satin would be considerably more the regular knives due to the size of the blade.

Now personally, I would not buy either version due to the fact that its not worth it to me. I mean the only reason I would have to buy one is simply because I want one, and I think its cool. And I'm not rich enough to buy anything that expensive just because I want it. Not to say that the sword isn't worth it, just not to me.

If you were buying to beat it, then get the CG by all means, hell Tim stripped his and it looked awesome. If you are planing to make it your safe queen and keep it for its value, get the LE it will be worth a lot of $$$ down the road.

I'm well aware of the difference in work and intrinsic value and such which is why I have both CG and LE of any busse I buy usually...but with this one being as much as it is I can only get one. You have a lot to say about it for someone who doesn't want one...lol. To be honest spending as much on a blade as for an AR10 (which I also want) seems silly but I might just want the satin if it is thicker stock. I would still be fully satisfied with a CG stripped and cleaned up and I would be a LOT more willing to use it. Dang I was hoping someone might actually have answered the original question at hand by now. Does anyone know if there is a difference in edge or anything else on them? Tim's looks really nice so I am leaning towards just that a blue/black CG if I can ever find it...but I also wonder if busse might make a 24" one for me? Now that would be really sick..

Thanks for the comments on mine guys but it wouldn't be possible if Jerry hadn't made them. They are all a piece of functional art regardless of coated/satin/stripped.

As I understand it, the custom shop/satin versions aren't out in the wild yet so specs aren't yet available to compare. The CG is a beast that will do anything you ask it to, but it is also a heck of a work out for the arm using it so I wouldn't want one any thicker or longer. I could barely flex it with the .30 thickness it already is and that required a lot of strength. I would need a very long cheater bar to bend one enough to even think of hurting it, I guarantee you.

My suggestion is buy what makes you happy as money is just a tool used to help you get the things you want and it is just printed paper people assign value to. I think of INFI as a useful precious metal, it will always be worth something and probably more then was paid for it. Buy what you will use if you plan to use it or buy what looks best to you if you plan to safe queen it. Or, follow the HOG philosophy of buy one of each! :D  If you can't justify it all, well, then do what you have to do. If you are like me, once you have it in your hands you will forget about the price. If you can't and it bothers you, well, someone else will gladly take it off your hands, so you can't lose. :p

As to the AR10 idea, I wonder what results you get if you calculate the cost of 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 chops with a gladius in your back yard ;) vs the same amount of use with an AR-10  :barf: in your back yard ? Yup, there it is. More fun, more convenient and cheaper in the long run = gladius easily justified. :p

If you want to pursue the satin or a 24" custom (I hope it's a two hander cuz it'll be heavy). You could always call the shop and ask... but if satin pricing is hard to justify you might be disappointed at the price for a one off, if they even say yes.

Let's not start another thread about this guys. If you can't afford it or don't want to pay for the Satin from the company, that's fine. Beautiful large Busse never go down in value so less Custom Shop satin ones will be made and the price of these rare satin ones will appreciate without your help but I do thank you for your contribution for keeping the production #s down.

Well I even said the only reason I have for getting one is that I do want one. I think it super cool, I just can't afford it. But I also said that both blades are worth their price point

Dan, you are most certainly welcome, consider it a favor :p

Well I asked the custom shop for a longer blade Gladius and they said no!!!:grumpy::(:thumbdn:

Yeah I dont think I can justify wailing on a $2000 dollar one...I think I will pick up the Cg and finish it like TIM...I do wish it was a tad longer though...

Well, the next logical step is an INFI Viking long sword. :D

Who's with me (besides Brandon :))

Yeah! I really am more of a sword guy at heart. I guess I buy so many knives just cause most of them I can carry around. But I can't really carry around a sword with out getting in trouble, but I wish I could!! Funny how I can carry a gun but not a sword!!! Stupid weird laws!!!:grumpy::D

To those who have held both a CG and Satin, how do the grinds compare? I got my CG today(from the exchange, not the ganza) and the edge is really thick. Did the full convex give it a drastically thinner grind? Or was it still fairly chunky?

Not that I am complaining about the thick edge, it's what i was hoping for. An unbelievably heavy, solid blade. I think it was AZTim who compared it to an entry tool, and i have to agree with that statement. I love it.
