order a custom... then you can specify mass and balance point and edge geometry and...

would have thought a Spatha was by definition ...long. You cant go past any of the Albion gladius.

FYI for the price of some of the options above you can find a maker to make you a custom gladius for a similar cost.

exactly...

Better yet make your own!

File, hacksaw, sandpaper... 25$

Trance-like state achieved during drawfiling and handsanding... priceless!

I can drawfile fairly well (I am a school trained Gunsmith) and I excel at metal work....

I have heard that stock removal is a great way to go when making a sword...but I have no Idea where to begin...or how I would do the heat treat when it was ready...I do have a small metal oven..That I got for color case hardening small parts but is way too small and the house I live in now does not have the wiring set up for it anyways….

Not to mention now of the other hundred things you have to think about when making a sword…

my first sword is still in bush use after 16 years with lots of testing etc (I was harder on it during testing than the current owner) made with a 1 by 30 sander and sent out for heat treatment... if you can file then you can make a sword, just draw the shapes you want and make them, use a steel your local heat treatment shop can handle. Full tang construction is pretty simple... harmonics, well, you can figure it out as you go. It's a fun project when you don't have a deadline!

I have a 1'X30" sander :D

what other advice can you give me sir.....and how do I go about finding a heat treater?

if you use something like A2, which should be up to the task I think (Busse used to use it before he developed INFI), any heat treater and many machine shops will be able to HT for you, but of course you can send it out for a bigger name ht... are we going to see you on the makers forums soon? Lots of help is available there.
