Heya Folks! Quick question for yall. I recently bought a Cold Steel Gladius Machette, and love the thing. I know that doesn't really count as a sword as "machette" is right in the name. Question is, can anyone tell me a maker that produces a quality gladius that fits somewhere between the Cold Steel and a Busse?

What are you going to do with it?

What is your limit for budget?

How attached to historic similarities are you?

Here is a "tactical" Gus Trim listed in stock.

For economy but excellent historical pieces look for the Valiant Armoury models of gladius, whenever you might find them in stock. They seem to be popular and are much less expensive than going the Albion Sword route. The Valiant models are based on swords designed by Gus Trim and Christian Fletcher.

Kris Cutlery makes a stout little blade and is somewhat anachronistic but is another fairly budget gladius that will work.

Not technically a gladius (inspired by the Swiss baselard) but of similar styling, is my Oberst sword/machete hybrid.

The Valiant Armoury Signature "Actium" won't break the bank, but I've heard fantastic things about them. I think they are in the $350 range.

Thanks! Wish the wood pile was mine! I snapped those pics at my folks' place while I was visiting. We rent our house and because it's an old connected farm house the landlords won't let us have a wood stove. The chimney is in an awkward place anyhow--I'm not sure where we'd put one. Some day though! Few things I love more than splitting wood. At least I have plenty of space to use my scythe here. :D:thumbup:

I suggest you check Kult of Athena. They carry an ample selection of swords of different historical periods, an I'm sure you will find something to your liking.
