How big is that blade? It could be a matter of perspective but compared to that clamp on the work bench it looks to be extremely large for a gladuis. Like I said it could be perspective it could be what your customer asked for. Generically, a Mainz gladuis should be in the 24 to 28 inch range with the blade at around 20 inches. The width should be around 2.5 inches. The weight should be less than 2 lbs.

i took a closer look, if the measurements on the paper are in millimeters it looks like you nailed it, good job!

Hi there Triton,

Measurements are in millimeters and close to your sizes:) I have purposely exaggerated the size slightly (say maybe 10%), as well the shape to just accentuate the look a bit...So not 100% authentic copy but very close. I am also planning a more complex bevel grind on it, again, just to accentuate its features. All that said, it will still look authentic... (The weight I am working on still😅, my swords tend to be slightly on the heavier side but within reason)

also, it has a hamon, which turned out really nice. Busy with the final grinding as we speak and then the first phase of polishing...

Nice! I look forward to seeing the finished product!

Progress...
Heat treatment done and...making a mock up grip to get the right feel and look
