Glass bead key chain sharpener

Went to the bead craft store today. Initially, I was wondering if I could find a ceramic bead for this purpose, but they had a dime-sized glass bead that was better for sharpening. I used different grit sand paper to create a coarse and fine side. The hardest part was threading it; the hole is not very large. I had this strong polyester thread that was three strands. Removing one strand did the trick. Grabbing by the thread loop, I could hold it steady to sharpen my knife. Anyway, for $2.30 + tax, I am pretty happy with it.
 
Just tried this on a couple of knives and a tomahawk. You can use it like a mini puck, and it's very easy to feel imperfections using this sharpener. My hawk has never been this sharp before. If I get back to the bead store, I will definitely buy a couple more.
 
If you must carry a sharpener with you, one of the credit card sized diamond hones is a much better choice-for a number of reasons.

While I agree the pocket diamond hones are more capable, this I will have with me at all times without added forethought. It will do fine for the intended use, which is a minor touch-up.
 
Dude make me one!!! That's awesome!! I'd ve glad to compensate you for it. Kind of reminds me of the "sharpens best" but for honing not cutting your steel. Great job man!

LOL, it might be a while until I make it back to that shop. I'll let you know if I do go.
If you are near a bead shop or hobby shop, check out what they have in terms of ceramic or glass beads. You might find what you want.

Don't forget about me when you go back knifebro! That looks like a must have dude. If you pickup alot you might think about listing them. Could be a fun way for a little side cash. Maybe go to sharktank? 🤣 I think they'd sell here extremely quickly. That would be a great lightweight addition to my hunting gear.
 
Everyone carries a wallet. Put the diamond hone there.
