Glass, not acrylic, magnifying glass?

I know plastic is cheap but, it also scratches easily even when cleaning it. Can anyone recommend a glass MAGNIFYING GLASS in a moderate power (2-3x) that won't break the bank? Or, should I go to an eyeglass shop and see if they can harden a plastic lens? I want something larger then a jewelers loupe too so, I've ruled those out (I do own one though). Something rectangular (2"x4") or round in a mid-size (~3~4") would be preferred to keep weight and size down while providing a good viewing area for small print items.

I've been carrying this for a few years, everywhere, everyday. Very durable, Galco leather, just gets better, stitching holds up, metal doesn't tarnish. I've used it in stores when i didn't want to bother with my reading glasses.
