I really don't like plastic lenses because they scratch so easily. Who still makes glass sunglasses? Please help!

Scott

Scott, I am pretty sure my Maui Jim's are glass. I went to their website and didn't see anything confirming that. They were a bit pricey but the brown tint is great. Are you from IL originally?? I used to go to school with a Scott Ridgeway in Brookfield...Ed.

Hi All-

Revo and Vuarnet both offer glass models. They are more scratch-resistant than plastics as long as you're OK with a tad more weight.

Was he incredibly handsome, athletic and intelligent? If so, it may have been me. Nah...not really. I've been in PA for most of my life.
:)

Scott, he was blond with freckles and I think he had younger twin brothers...that's about all I remember...that was about 30 some years ago.

Serengeti uses glass lenses. Don't pay retail. Check Overstock.com and Heartland USA for closeouts. I got a pair of Ravens for less than half price. Fantastic driving glasses.

I've been wearing Serentetis for a few years now. All glass. I had a pair of Ray Bans that were glass too. I won't use plastic lens sunglasses.

My only complaint for glass is I'm afraid of getting shards in my eye

Hi GarageBoy-

Rest assured that glass lenses are impact-resistant. It's not the same as having windowpane glass next to your eyeballs. :)

I have both Maui Jim and Revo. They're both glass and well made, IMO.

RayBans use CR 39 I think (no longer a bosch and lomb brand) My dad smashed his Carl Zeiss on an airport x-ray machine

Scott,

Since I see you are a fellow outdoor photographer, I'd recommend the folding Ray Ban Wayfarers. They pack up small, have a glass lenses, and cover a large area over your eyes.
