Coming back from Fallon Saturday evening we sat and waited over an hour for the fire trucks, sheriff's cars, state troopers, ambulances, tow trucks etc., to quit blocking the road. All five lanes, plus the margins. We were about the 4th car in line after they shut the road down. More rescue vehicles kept showing up, too.

Sunday we heard the evening news report it. Two vehicle accident. One with two people going 65-70, another one with a reportedly drunk driver came off a crossroad and T-boned them completely across into the ditch on the other side.

All three dead on the scene, and apparently took 8 or so emergency vehicles and their crews over an hour to get them out and reopen the road.

Just cause you get up in the morning doesn't mean you'll climb back into your bed that night. At least that seems to be the only observation worth making to me in that kind of situation.

You never know when your time to go will be. Only the Good Lord can tell that. I sure don't understand even a little of his plan but, I'm sure there is one. When I was younger I used to worry a bit about when I was going to go. Now, I jsut live my life the best I can and don't much worry about it. It will come when it comes.:)

Thanks for the reminder, Rusty. You make this forum worthwhile with your delving nature, checks and balances. I was just thinking I haven't heard much from you of late...

that is the way things happen - and you cannot be prepared for everything. The son of a collegue - he had just turned 18 - died wednesday of meningitis. He told his mother he did not feel healthy on Tuesday and was dead the other day. At work we were all shocked and sad. It may be hard to accept that I could die every minute - and would not be prepared. But it is even harder to accept this reality for your beloved, your sons and doughters. Its just not their turn to die before you do.
Prayer with good friends and the belief in God is the only thing to deal with such a situation.

Very true!:(

and BTW:

Thanks for posting this reminder Rusty--served to snap me out of my usual worrying over the small stuff that often blinds me from seeing the beauty in the world--and most importantly the good and beautiful within my own family, friends and (dare I say it) myself...
