Having never laid eyes on one, please tell me more about them. Are they a ceramic stone? Not a water stone, correct? Do they last a while? Worth the money? If you were going to buy a couple, which ones would be the ones to get? Thanks for the help.

Theres been a couple threads on this topic for the past week or so. Not to mention the one right next to yours.....

Ceramic is a term used for the type of bonding, many stones are ceramic but only spyderco stones are the type of hard ceramic most relate the word to.

Yeah, I looked at the other thread, hence the reason that I had more questions. So again, is it a "ceramic" type stone? I see that you use water, but do they need flattening like a water stone typically does? I'm just looking for a little help here.

They SHould be lapped. But you could easily do a few knives with no noticeable dishing. They hold shape really well. I am loving them

What grits do you have Travis? What do you use to lap? The Shapton lapping stone is very cheap, at $375. Uh no.

The shapton glass are Japanese waterstones just a very hard and durable formulation made by ceramic bonding methods. You treat it exactly the same except you don't have to lap the stone very often or soak it before use. CKTG sells a cheap diamond plate for lapping, I would recommend that. The 6pc kit would probably be a good bet and if you need a coarser stone you could add the 500 later.

They are just premium waterstones don't let the marketing trip you up.
