I have only seen and held the sandblasted version. I'm just looking to buy a large plain Sebenza 31 double lug. Pros and cons of glassblasted vs sandblasted?

The sand blasted will show wear over time and the GB version can still scratch but the finish holds up much better if you want your knife to retain the 'brand new' look. The main thing I'd say is that the SB looks and feels more rugged while the GB version is more refined. My advice is if you want a knife to be a workhorse then I'd go SB. If you want more of a showpiece then GB. Cheers.

I have both and recently got a glass blast inkosi. I do like the glass blast more than I thought I would. My only concern is that it it a little slippery and maybe the knife could slip out of your hand. I think that would be less likely with the sand blast. You should try to go somewhere to handle both if you can to see which one you prefer. If you get one and prefer the other you could always sell it for close to what you paid.

The sand blast over time becomes as slick as the glass blast, but with just more snail trails. Also, if grip is a concern, get an Inkosi. The finger grooves will do more for you than the finish will.

I think I'll to go with the sandblasted. I have re- blasted a few sebenzas myself and it comes out perfectly everytime. I've used different grits. Just cover the pivot area or you could mess it up.

As others have said the glass is more slippery, but resists scuffing a bit more as it's a smoother less matte finish. The one I was shocked at was the micarta versions, they are very slippery, the 31 being worse than the Inkosi. The sandblasted plain TI has way more grip than the micarta versions even when wet, huge buyers remorse on that one.
