Glasses for forging

My 11 year old daughter has asked to learn blacksmithing and I was wondering what glasses she (and I) would need for basic forge work, most likely in a propane forge. Do I just look for safety glasses that will block IR and UV? Is there a compromise between protection and actually being able to see your work? Obviously I want to protect her as much as possible. Any advice is appreciated.

Pretty much any shade 3 IR, polycarbonate safety glasses will work. I like 3M. Any welding supply and many of the box stores carry them.
