Well this is a often occurrence when we see threads such as this being posted in our very special wee corner of the world, but with the marvellous people that we have here in Traditionals - it comes a no surprise.
Now I owe many many people - many thanks, without you - and you guys/gals know who you are - I would have very little in the knife world -sure - I consider myself to have some very nice knives, but its the people here that mean the most to me - I mean this most sincerely.

Now I can name SO SO many people who have helped-and I feel quite lousy to leave you wonderful people out - but lets please have a look today at what Glenn and Gevonovich have done for me - and my family!

I contacted Glenn a while ago, and asked him if he would consider working on 3 of my knives - I consider myself lucky that he accepted the challenge I put to him - it sounded as though he may have regretted his decision half way through though!

The 3 knives are a Robeson Swinguard - Frozen Heat Treated Blade - bought in my early days as a beginner collector - the owner from the big bay conveniently forgot to mention the disgusting play in the blade - and the fact someone had taken the terrible approach by trying to punch the pin, the scales had also Shrunk - the knife was worth nothing in the state it was in - so I was open to Glenn doing what he wanted to this knife - I was hoping he could keep and use the original scales-but this was impossible.
The next knife was a Rich. Herder Soddie-these are hardy, great knives - I like them, this Cutler does very good work - Glenn retained the original Wood scales - I didn't recognise this as the wood looked so good, Glenn also totally pulled the knife apart and completely rebuilt it -as he did the Robeson, he didn't polish the Blade - something I am extremely thankful for - this knife had terrible play - it was past the stage of tightening and re-peening...it was in my opinion pretty useless as is....
Next was a neat old ( in my eyes anyway lol ) TL-29, a single bladed version that is Broad-Marked, but the scales were horribly past their use-by date - the blade is old, and I asked if Glenn could use Ebony on this ol' girl - I thought this would suit the knife.
Ok..the good ol Soddie - there is not much point in showing you a before shot - as the knives issue was play...but here she is in all its beauty - Glenn - you did a wonderful job - thank you Sir..

Wowee..

I kinda like the neat old blade-and I wanted it to be resurrected and it have a chance for another lifetime - more now thanks to Glenn..

Next is this lovely TL-29...

The third knife is the Robeson, here a few not very good shots of before...

This knife is just beautiful in the walk and talk area-as is every knife Glenn has re-built...the scales look just great, fantastic job Glenn - thank you so so much..

Gevonovich - another very well known forum friend of many - Gevonovich and I correspond now and then, well one day Gev offered me something that in a way was very hard to accept - as some lucky few have had Gev's amazing work with Jewellery - well this amazing guy went to work and made beautiful pieces of jewellery for the 4 women of my life, Sue my lovely Wife, Kelsey my eldest, Tayla my youngest, and Te Ana - Sues lovely girl...now me being me left it too late to get shots of the amazing work before the girls sat down and went through and chose their pieces - PHOTOS WILL FOLLOW!! but the amazing thing was that I sat down and watched these girls go through and choose - it was spread so amazingly even - they all chose what they liked and they all got what they chose-amazing!
But there was something else in the box - now me being me -I did get to get a few shots of this lovely old Barlow - now check out Gevonoviches amazing generosity...I love this knife-and it takes place with my special Barlow collection that has special knives also from Paul and Charlie - check it out... by the way the walk and talk is amazing!...

Wow - I just cannot express just how I love Barlows - especially older ones - another precious Barlow to adorn my Barlow collection - Gevonovich my friend - thank you, please give me a bit of time to gather time to get the girls to let go of their lovely gifts you have got for them, and thank you everyone for having a look, and your patience reading through my Rave :o

That Ulster Barlow is amazing, Duncan! I just shorted out my keyboard drooling on it. Good one, Gev!

What Duncan didn't tell you was that he was extremely patient with my "schedule" and pretty much let me have free choice to do what I thought would be proper to these knives. He has a good eye for these things, and I agreed that sometimes less is more. Unfortunately for the Robeson, the cell was shrinking on it and the brass was thin to begin with, so that didn't help the blade play. I suggested that we replace the covers, and Duncan agreed. That decision helped sturdy up the knife quite a bit. I'm still waiting to hear if Duncan lit up the old cell covers I sent back to him. They certainly didn't like my belt sander when I was grinding the old pins off, and almost caught on in my shop, LOL!

Anyway, I got a few pics I will post later of the take-apart on these knives. Duncan, thank you again for trusting me with your knives. I hope I was able to do them some justice.

Take care, friend!

Glenn
