Ok guys my grandfather passed away years ago and was my hero most kids had super man I had him. When I was young I followed him around asking questions and helping out but most of all being taught. And he carried 2 knives this old Barlow and a buck 110. I own both and can always remember me asking him why don't you get a better knife then that little one, and his answer was why it does its job. It was cracked and messed up but he loved it and used it all the time in the shop in the yard inf the house.

He would let me cut stuff with it sometimes and he always told me that they would be mine one day agian it isn't a expensive knife but it did its job for him and now it will do its job for me.

I belived that this knife needed some love and care and I decided to make it as special as the man that carried it and gave it to me. So I contacted glennbad and asked him if he could help me out and boy did he. I'm truly in his debt he didn't way More then I could have thought off. When he sent these pictures to me asking for my mailing address.
A flood of emotions ran over me and I feel truly blessed to get my grandfathers knife back looking this beautiful.

It looked like the bottom one but cracked and beat up

And now like this

Thank you again man you have given me something my boy will pass to his.

Fantastic! Even without it's history it's fantastic, but now... priceless considering it's original owner... good for you gb395. Enjoy!
Excellent work Glennbad!

Right on guys that's why I shared it here I knew this is where it would be appreciated

Wow!!! That is a very pretty masterpiece. Thanks for sharing.

I too have a special knife of my dad's. But have debated between restoration and just leaving it natural. It's really an inexpensive Western knife and could probably be found in the same condition and vintage for just a few bucks. But this one was my fathers.

Now you've made me start the contemplation again. It holds front position on one of my knife shelves. But in our family room, we have a framed picture of him and everyone in his first Naval assignment in '43, and the flag presented to me from from his Navy Honors at burial. Also hanging on the tripod are three dog tags. One actually worn with heavy patina, and two that appear unworn. Now thinking of finding a spot on one of the frames to mount his knife.

I absolutely love how you're turned out. Ah the brain banter again. [emoji2]
