I need to buy some new kitchen knives, and am trying to decide what brand to get. I am only going to buy about three as that is all I need, along with a magnetic strip to mout on the wall. I like the looks of some of the globals and am looking for some comments on others who have this brand, likes dislikes, ect.
Thanks fellow cutlers.

Great knives. Very popular with the professionals also, if that tells you anything.

I have a small utility chefs global and really like it. I have moved on from most production kitchen knives and prefer custom. I like the feel and looks of natural wood in my hand. I also like being able to request a blade style and shape.

I'm a professional and no, I don't like them.:)

I recommend that you get the knives in your hand and check them out.

I much prefer the feel of wood over steel.

My work knives are murray carter's...some of his muteki line and some of his customs.

This is very good advice also. I have a set of Shuns that I don't like the feel of at all, but it seems like everyone else raves about them. Opinions differ, and if you can, try (or at least handle) before you buy. The Williams Sonoma at my local mall has Globals on display so you can fondle all you want.

My wife bought me a Global 3-Piece Kitchen Knife Set last year and I absolutely love them. The set has the 8-inch chef's knife, 5-1/2-inch cook's knife and 4-inch paring knife which pretty much covers everything I need in the kitchen. I was never big on all stainless knives until I tried a global - I find them comfortable in the hand and the thin razor sharp edge cuts like a dream, holds it's edge well, and is a snap to sharpen on a Sharpmaker. (The 3 piece set runs about $150 bucks on the net)

The blade steel and shapes, and cutting ability are awesome. The handles are OK but a little weird. I've had one for years now and like it a lot. I want more.

Great knives. Love the balance of most of the models, and the thin convex grind is my favorite to use in the kitchen. Just stay away from the cheaper forged line...they're cheaper for a good reason.

very well made , some of their stuff has super ergo's . They have very well thought out paring knives .
