While killing time at the local mall I wandered through the knife shop. And they had a display of Global knives. I'd seen them in Las Vegas as well recently, but didn't have to either ask questions or handle them.

They appear kind of unusual, with the handles being an intregral part of the knife, or so it appears. Does anyone know anything about them? What kind of steal, R harness, edge holding, all the usual suspects. Inasmuch as they were hanging with the Hankles, the Wustoffs, etc, one must wonder how they stack up. Thanks.

dunno the specs and stuff but my friend has a couple of them and they are great.

There's plenty to read about Global knives on the net. Too bad the search function is not available for basic members because there are some past posts about them here.

Basically, Globals are from Japan and known for their sharpness (due to more acute edge angle). The blade is 58 RC I think, which is a couple of points harder than the German stuff. Global knives are comparatively lighter (some like this, some don't). A lot of chefs and cooks like Global.
