The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulafft, at Bergen, Norway. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.

Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds. Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

Oops. Never mind. This report was from November 2, 1922, as reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post - 88 years ago!

We hat 3 inches of global warming followed by 3/8" of the icey type of global warming last week. The temps in my area last year set some all time lows. Go AL

1922? Wow - I know the green weenies are all for recycling but how many times are they going to recycle this scam?

Wow. It was 110 in my truck in the shade just two weeks ago at the mall. Which probably means it was about 102. In December. And then three days later it dropped to 64 and rainy. Then it climbed back up to 90. And now its a high of 56 and rainy.

As for the article, the earth will always go through changes. Some of it is man made, some of it is God / Nature (depending on your beliefs) made.

When I was in high school, all the rage was Global Cooling--we were all going into the next Ice Age--and the Population Explosion; which noone seems to have mentioned at all in the last 30 years.

We also have a few inches of Global Warming on the ground, with more predicted thru tomorrow.

Here in the interior of Alaska it has warmed up to -14 today. We had almost a week of -30 to -40. This has been the coldest December in years. The weather man pridicted a cold winter this summer due to La Nina.I would not be suprised if it drops down to -50 before it starts warming up next month.

Global warming can't happen soon enough around here.

I'll swallow an open folding knife sideways if global warming proves to be true in time :D

You got it all wrong, Gary. Its global cooling that is going to kill us. We know its true, because Newsweek said so in April, 1975.

The Cover of Time Magazine in 1972, 1974, and 1977 warned of Global Cooling and the coming Ice Age.

Ah, the irony of faking the narrative of an 88 year old weather report - to highlight the "fakeness" of our modern Global Warming hysteria. :D

Come on Gary, you need to take this stuff seriously.

Killer bees are coming...oh wait, never mind.

SARs is an epidemic that will kill us all...um, disregard what I said.

Mad cow disease will get you if you eat hamburger...or not.

Y2K will be the end of the world...oops, I was mistaken about that.

The swine flu will get you...maybe.

Acid rain is the next horror...in our minds.

AIDS will infect everyone...but mostly just those in high risk categories.

and it goes on and on.

Come on everybody, never mind all the other scares that didn't come true, this one REALLY is the truth.

- Mark

When the big scare comes along that does not:

- require you to modify your behavior to conform to the standard of someone who has self-anointed themselves as being fully qualified to run your life, or

- require you to transfer large amounts of money to them or to their selected beneficiaries,

then look out! It's the real thing!
