For the 10 round magazine, there is a hole on the floor plate for the tool. For the 17 round magazine, there is nothing there. How do I take apart the Glock 17 17-round magazine? (I could post pics if necessary)

i use a c-clamp to SLIGHTLY depress the side of the mag above the floorplate then poke the bump down on the bottom of the floorplate (if it has one lol)and slide the floorplate off, one of my hi-caps for a glock .40 doesnt have the hole FWIW i dont have a clue as to why some do/some dont lol.

On those older mags, to get the baseplate off, just squeeze the sides of the mag body and slide the plate off. You should then buy new innards, including a plate and whatever they call that retaining tab that usually requires the punch. Although not too common, those old mags will sometimes dump their contents if you enthusiastically slam them into a magwell and accidentally knock off that plate. The newer design retains the plate better.

Weird, it shows a hole, are they factory mags?

I'm almost certain that these are pre-ban factory mags.

Those without the hole are older, unless you got second-hand mags where someone put older parts on a newer mag body.

Who would do such a thing!?!

I tried the squeeze and slide, but the squeeze part is a bit difficult. The body of the mag is one sturdy piece of plastic! I'm HIGHLY considering replacing the bottom plate with the ones w/ holes, or a +2 extension. If I could only find the right place/price...any ideas?

JUST REMEMBER WHEN YOU SLIDE THAT BASE PLATE OFF TO KEEP YOUR HAND OVER THE END OF THE MAG OR YOU MAY LAUNCH THAT SPRING INTO YOUR EYES>\

Important safety tip from one who has nearly "put his eye out" stripping mags and getting careless.

Problem solved; the solution was the squeeze and slide method. I even had to get a friend to help me out!
