For those of you who have either one, why did you choose it? For those who have both, which do you prefer?
I have the S&W and a Glock 17 with the grip reduced to 19 specs, I shoot the Glock better, but I kind of like the external safety on the S&W. For a guy who grew up shooting 1911's the safety seems natural.

I have a g19 and the m&p9 full size no safety though. Both fun to shoot both pros and cons. G19 parts and mags will be everywhere if the world ends. The m&p9 shoots better in my opinion. But i still put my .45 in a holster every morning:)

I have a glock 19 (fourth gen replaced my second gen) that I carry the majority of the time. It’s slim enough for comfortable concealment while still holding a more than adequate capacity. I shoot it very well (for me). It’s reliability is flawless. The aftermarket is huge! All of that being said, I have nothing against the M&P at all. It too is a very reliable, and adaptable gun. I am actually going to try out the newer M&P 2.0 next time I go to the range to see what all the hype is about.

I have not heard too much about the 2.0. It's about the same size as the Glock 19, which makes it bigger than the original.

Everyone is different and will prefer one vs the other based on what fits them and thier preferences. That said, I have a Gen 4 Glock 19, a M&P compact and a full size M&P. The Glock and M&P are both good platforms but I prefer the M&P platform because they fit my hand better and have a better grip angle for me (think 1911). The only reason I got the Glock 19 is beacuse Smith didn't offer a midsize grip like the 19. I hate short grips on handguns so this was the best compromise for me.

Fast forward and Smith now makes a midsize M&P grip 9mm. You may want to take a look at their new M&P 2.0 compact. The M&P 2.0 has improved their grip texture and has a much better trigger. FWIW, while the M&P 2.0 grip texture feels great, it may be bit rough against your skin if you plan on carrying it CCW. If so, you could always wear an undershirt or smooth out the skin side of the grip texture.

I would handle both and see what feels best to you.

Here's a link yo the M&P 2.0.

The g19 gen 5 is an awesome gun. The mp 2.0 is nice also but the triggers still arent on par with most striker fired guns imo.

The czp10c is my favorite striker fired gun out there right now.

Of the 2 mentioned though g19 gen5 for sure.

My Glock 17 is a Gen 2, I'll never go to a newer one because I just don't like the accessory rail. That's my big complaint about my M&P.

I only like the rail for mounting a light when i put it on the night stand. Other than that they dont get much use.
