I bought a Glock 78 knife a month ago and have been testing it ever since. I was curious if anybody else owns one and would like to hear your feedback. As for myself: it's a very durable knife (I used it to cut very thick branches both by chopping and batonning them, even cut some very thick firewood once when I did not have a hatchet), the blade is too thick and narrow for its size e.g. it splits more than it cuts, and the steel is decent but not great, feels like a 1050 (if anybody knows what steel it is for sure, please write it). Still, for its price it's a very decent knife and can stand a lot of abuse. Also, the Kraton handle is simple but very comfortable during prolonged use.

I have played with them. My impression is along the lines of the Pilots survival knife. A compromise tool that is average at alot of things. My guess at steel is 5160. It's a spring steel, and not a true carbon steel like the 10xx series. It was adapted from the Austrian Bayonet that glock makes, and hardness is at the mid to low 50's. Your experience pretty much sum up the knife well.

Apparently they make a decent thrower, too.

I've been toying with the idea of taking one to the belt sander for a full convex grind.
