Glock accessory?

Our department traded in our original-issue M23s with the high-cap magazines for the updated and more politically correct version with the 10-round mag.
No big deal; I now have 31 rounds of .40 instead of 39.... Should get the job done.

Anyhoo, we got all the little accessories as well, including a cable-type lock for home safety. Since we have no kids living at home, I never even looked at the thing.
Today, while cleaning the weapon, I pulled the lock out and looked it over.
I can't imagine Glock would ship such a cheezy piece of junk with thier weapon. This is one flimsy, cheap little padlock with a cable instead of a shackle. Operation is stiff and sticky, and it was difficult to get the silly thing unlocked. Anyone who put this rig on a home-defense weapon would be out of thier minds...

I know, Glock probably only shipped the thing to satisfy the safety-types, but still...

It can hardly be worse than a trigger-guard lock. You can pry one of those off with a screwdriver and so little force it'll make you wonder if you could do it with your fingernails, or just leave it on and fire the gun by pulling on it....

Let me get this straight. You are a police officer, and your Department made you go to 10 round magazines for the sake of political correctness?

That's just sad.

Actually, I don't think the department really was concerned about the 13 vs 10-round thing, it was that the distributor offered us a fantastic deal trading in the older weapons, enabling us to equip our somewhat-expanded department for little or no outlay of cash.

I agree that the whole thing is rather silly; even an untrained individual can swap magazines in a second or two, so just carry another mag....

The only pic I could find on the site was of the same sort of cable-padlock I described; even the same color.

You could probably find something of better quality in a bike shop.

Speaking of which, we normally lock up our bikes while on calls with handcuffs (we carry two pair) which are handy.
Master Lock just came out with a heavy-duty bike lock called the "STreet Cuff." It's a massive handcuff, with shunt-key type locks and a link-and-plate type connecting chain. Inner surfaces are protected with vinyl pads.
Not cheap, at 60-75 bucks depending on model, but it looks pretty good. Might be popular with BDSM types as well.....

The real purpose of that lock is to make sure the gun is unloaded I think. It would be tought to leave a round in it. I just put mine in a gun safe at home. Fast to open (one of those you put your fingers in the grooves and tap out the numbers). Then you don't have to worry bout a key and opening the lock, etc.

My favorite Glock accessory is the hollow point bullet as I have the 9mm G34. I cn afford the 9mm ammo to prctice with and while people go on about "stopping power" and so forth, the hollow points would do a decent job for home defense I believe. Heaven forbid I should ever need it.

Watch it, you'll open up a new, long, and highly-involved thread with charts, graphs, personal accounts, and pictures of exploding gelatin blocks.....hehe.

By FAR the BEST Glock accessory is to have your brain totally in-gear when handling a Glock pistol, since there are no "active" safeties on a Glock pistol. In other words, don't touch the trigger 'till you are ready to put bullets into what ever the muzzle is pointing at.

As far as "add-on" accessories for the Glock, good night-sights and the installation of "Agrip" are two of the most useful.
