I heard that with a Glock you can change the barrel and the magazine and switch from .40 to 9mm is that True or False?

Anyone know for sure?

It is true!

Here is a link to some barrels... LINK

Need to keep the barrels in the same platform full size large frame (model 20/21), full size small frame (model 17/22/etc..), Subcompact small frame, et...

Thanks Tom!

Don't know why I didn't think to look at Lone Wolf, I've bought from them before. :o:p

So let's say that we get a 9mm conversion barrel for a Glock 22. Which magazine will be needed for the Glock 22?

I think I found the answer to the question. Use a Glock 17 9mm magazine, right?

i had heard of the aftermarket bbls, but hadnt seen them. thx for the link tom.

im still skeptical, mainly because the extractor and ejector are different sizes.

has anyone used one? how is reliability?

I have heard that you can convert from .40 to .357SIG which is basically a .40 shell necked down to about a 9mm bullet. This way you can keep the same mags.

Some of these conversions may work sometimes but are not reliable !!! The 40-357sig ,as Texas says ,is easy as only the barrel is changed . The 40-9 means different extractor ,ejector, barrel, magazine and recoil spring. Do you want it to work ???

yes, the only conversion that glock recognizes is the .357-.40 or vice versa.

same mags, extractor, ejector, everything but the bbl is the same.

I don't know if it's recognized by Glock, but the .45ACP to .400 CorBon is also a simple barrel change. The .400 CB is a .45 case that has been necked down to hold a .40 bullet. The 10 round magazines work better than the 13 round ones though, as the necked case doesn't feed as well from the 13s.

that's interesting, i have never heard of anyone doing that conversion.

what has been your experience with the round? is the corbon much hotter? my concern would be stress on the frame, slide, and internal parts.

I had a G21 that I did that conversion on, but I've since sold it. I can't remember the name of the company that made the barrel, I do know they've went out of business since then (it was around 1998 when I bought it). It was just a little longer than the stock length with a thread on compensator. Although the .400 CorBon has higher velocity it's also a lighter bullet, so I'm not sure if it puts more stress on the rest of the pistol or not. It's a bit hotter than the 10mm, but not too much. Felt recoil was less than the .45, but of course the compensator helped there. I did find this quote online "The 400 Corbon maintains the same chamber pressures as the 45 ACP +P"

With the 13 round magazines I could only load about 6 rounds, any more than that and it wouldn't feed reliably. What would happen is because the round is bottlenecked the front of the round didn't have enough support and would get caught on the feed ramp. A 10 round magazine could be filled and it would feed fine. If you search some pistol boards you'll see it seems to be a common problem with the Glock as the 13 rounder is a doublestack.

BTW, you can make this same conversion on a 1911. There should be no problem with feeding there as it uses a singlestack magazine. They do suggest you change the recoil spring to 20 lb on the 1911.

Factory loads available:

This is the only picture I have of it (the knife is an Andre DeVilliers)
