My Glock Field Knife finally came and I couldn't be happier with it. ...Wait, yes I could. It came with out a tip, so I had to put one on myself with the sander. No big deal. It has a nice balance and is fun to throw. It has a sort of sleek bayonet shape to it.

My question is what sort of steel is used for the blade? Because of the coating, I want to think it's a high carbon, but can't be sure. I would appreciate any insight you might have.
Thanks.

If anybody finds any detailed specifications on the Glock Field Knife series, I'd be very grateful.

PS: Does anybody have an email address for contacting Glock?

Thanks! :)

Wow this is old!
Sorry, I have no real specs on the steel. It is a great user though. WONDERFUL thorwer! The coating is so-so. But this particular knife is really great!

I believe I started a thread similar to this one a few years ago. Nobody was able to verify what steel is used, and Glock won't disclose it. ???

Several years ago when Cutlery Shoppe had a printed catalog (dont know if they still do or not) they sold the Glock knife. They had the steel listed as AUS8. I think in later catalogs the steel type was removed from the specs, so I dont know if the AUS8 was ever accurate or not.

If they listed the steel as AUS8, then they were simply guessing. And, guessing very inaccurately, by the way. This is some kind of plain ole carbon steel, and not even close to stainless.

I don't know how accurate this is but this site

http://www.bersapistols.com/item/3760_Glock_Knives_GLOCK_KB17278_FIELD_KNIFE.aspx

Lists these specs:

Glock Inc® Field Knife Model: 78 Manufacturer Number: KB17278 Edge Type: Plain Blade Type: Clip Point Blade Length: 6 1/2 Inch Overall Length: 11 3/4 Inch Blade Material: Spring Steel HRC55 Phosphate Treated Handle Material: Black Polymer Includes: Black Polymer Sheath Quantity: 1
I hope this helps-Bill

I wouldn't be surprised if the steel changes during each procurement period.

Why was this resurrected after 4+ years?
