Do any of you guys own a glock field knife? I want to buy one but I don't know if they are good (tough, feel good, work). If any of you knife people own one, please let me know how it works for them.

Are you looking for a tactical knife or a general purpose/outdoors field knife?

It says it is balanced for a throwing knife. To me that sounds like it isn't balanced for a field knife.

Tell us more what you want out of your knife

from what I heard its simple, tough knife.
sort of, european Ka-Bar
quite popuar here, along with finnish ranger puukko.

Jets obviously has no idea what he is talking about, as he has not done the research. I, however, have and am actually in the process of ordering one as im typing this message! I'll be taking this knife into the combat zone with me when I am deployed, thats how confident I am in this knife. Here are good video reviews of it.

http://knifetests.com/glock81fieldknifed-test.html This one is a destruction test from our very own Noss4, who is a kickass member on these forums for taking the time and the money and putting in the effort to review these knives for us

knifetests tested it if I'm not wrong,
i have one, nice light knife very well built, as far as I know steel is 1055 or so, so not the best but is easily resharpened.
i like mine and can suggest it if you find it for a low price

fdd19, let's stick to commenting on the knife, as jetsrb32 very politely did, and not commenting on each other, as you have done no research on him to know what he knows.

For $45 I might as well. Thanks for comments. Lenny, do you have a link to where Americans can buy this knife? No offence just it being Russia, I wouldn't know. Jets, it's more collecting at this stage then using, as I am 14 and bringing knives to school is not legal, more for camping and killing. FDD, drop a message letting me know how it works for you and be safe.

I've had one for many years. It is sturdy and would undoubtedly stab well. However, the geometry of the blade and edge render it a pretty mediocre cutter. Wouldn't be my choice for a camp knife. Of the knives mentioned, I'd prefer a Kabar for general utility. However, I paid $18 for the Glock years ago so I don't regret it.

All it needs is a good reprofiling based on what you wanna use it for, thats what I'm doing with mine, after that its all good.

If you can reprofile a blade that's a useful skill to have. Are you going to strip it and put a full convex edge on it? I would like to do that to my USMC Knife but I am barely confident enough to sharpen my knives:p Post a pic when it's done. To bad Noss doesn't always have a written review of his knife test:grumpy:

Hell no, I'm not trusting myself to do that properly! lol, I'm gonna have it done at Plaza Cutlery in South Coast Plaza. If anybody has experience with their sharpening capabilities, do let me know

Noss4 usually has a small summary at the top of the page on the knife, usually

Well, when I said $45, I added shipping and handleing. And I saw video on how it was great for thowing, which I dig. It's like 6 1/2 in. So I think I'm going to get it. An I don't trust knife tests that well, unless they are the field tests. Because I won't chop wood like that, nor a concrete brick.

Of course not, but if you had to you could rest assured that it was capable who knows what kind of stress you may have to put on it in a jif.

My daughter won a Glock Field Knife at a competition at her gun club.

It was intended to be a nice prize.

As much as I like Glock pistols, I have to say this knife was not something I would ever carry or use. I would certainly never spend my money on a knife like this. The steel is quite soft, and the edge is virtually non-existent. When sharpened, it does not hold the edge.

The most useful thing I found on the knife was the bottle opening guard! :D but that's not really a knife's primary function, is it?

Personally, I give it a big thumbs down! :thumbdn:

The saw works adequately, but of course youre better off with a dedicated saw, the saw is also a good way to set up a chopping point

I'm just not eager to put a significant amount of re-profiling dollars or time into my Glock when I have scores of other knives that will do a better job for me as outdoor knives (even if the Glock were re-profiled). I've used it as a loaner knife because it's sturdy and the steel is soft enough to easily re-sharpen. I've also used it as a back-up knife you can leave in your truck and not worry about losing much money if it's stolen.

For only $25 I'm not saying "don't buy one" if you'd like to try it out. Just realize it will have limitations.

You can get em' for like $25 at impact guns, but like I said in the other thread I think you would be better off stepping it up and getting a Ka-bar or something similar.
If you already have a couple fixed blades and just wanna try out the glock then hell yeah buy and beat it to shit, it only cost you 20-30 bucks.
