You might not be hitting the edge and are up on the shoulder...
take a sharpie to both sides of the edge and do a few stroke on the sharpmaker to make sure you are actually getting the cutting edge against the stone.
search for the sharpie trick for lots more info on diagnosing using a sharpie.
The edge is VERY thick on the Glock field knife and without a belt sander or a very coarse stone to get the angle down its not going to do much more than cut warm butter.
the first one that i i bought (approx. five yrs. ago) has a different finish on it than the last two (approx. 1 yr.),
the first has a shinier and less durable looking finish; i have been able to put a reasonably sharp edge upon that one....it is the latter two that i've been struggling with.
