I have owned a glock 22 for years. Being the type guy to take everything apart I own. I have looked online and found a few books that give details on breaking the gun down. But does anyone know of any web sites that have this information for free. I am talkin beyond field striping it. If anyone has any tips i would appreciate it..thanks

thanks ill look into them,,i was just on glock talk lookin around, I want to learn how to take it apart further, and maybe change triggers out one day

its actually very easy.

remove the trigger pins and the trigger assembly comes out.

push in the firing pin with an allen key or similar sized tool, pull down a bit, and the firing pin and spring come out.

there is a glock tool, which is basically a little rod with a handle, that is sized to remove all the pins. i got mine free while attending the armorer's course, but they are not expensive, under $10.

and remmeber the pins are designed to be inserted only in one direction.

to add to what Morimotom said...with an unloaded pistol, remove the slide, pull the striker to the rear, and you will notice a plastic housing forward of the striker, push this forward to release the rear plate, which is slid down... this will expose the extractor plunger and springs... the little plastic spacers are specific for each pistol, the extractor can be removed, and the split cups (like valve spring keepers) hold the spring (no need to remove them)with tension off the extractor, move the firing pin safety block up and down to release the extractor, once removed the firing pin block comes out...remove all pins from frame (including the plastic one at rear) the slide stop holds the large trigger pin in place, so gently move it back and for the to easily push out the pins... slightly pry up the barrel locking block and the entire striker assembly comes out...there is no need to remove the striker from the ejector block unless you are changing something, and if you do you need to twist the assembly (there is a spring underneath).. when you reassemble the pistol, be sure to replace the smaller top pin in the trigger assembly first so the slide stop spring goes in below it, jiggle the slide stop to replace the large trigger pin... don't mess with the take down latch forward of the barrel block... the mag release catch is a torsion spring that is pressured to the mag well, so you need to push it to the notch in the mag catch to release the catch... a slotted small screw driver helps to replace the spring

great info thanks alot. I will keep yall updated on how it goes. I wont have time till monday to tinker with it.

Glocks are very simple. After you have done it a few times, you will be able to completely disassemble one in about 2 minutes, if you take your time.

I have worked on and carried 1911's for years. When I started carrying and working on Glocks, I couldn't get over the simplicity.
