Hello

I know this has been asked before but now survivalkeychain.com no longer sells them. Has there been some change in law or regulations on tritron? Anyone know where I can get one currently in the US? Thanks

Ryan

Glowrings have been banned from being sold in the US for quite a while now because they have more tritium than is allowed by law. That being said, there are usually some people around here that have extras for sale. I have to recommend Bagheera, as he is the one who sold me mine. He lives in the Netherlands, but our transaction went flawlessly. He will ship them to you, and you send him the money after you receive them. I think they are $12 each unless you buy 10 or more, then the price drops a dollar or two, and he throws a free one in. Give him an e-mail if you are interested.

Thanks. I origionally thought this was just a recent thing and people had stopped selling them to the US. Thanks for the info.

I'll second the purchase from Bagheera. He sells them to raise money for his scout troop. The transaction went smoothly and the delivery was quick.

I'll third the purchase from Bagheera.:) I never got glow rings from him but I bought several Army Model Swedish Fire Steels from him and he was great to work with, and it is "a good thing" to help his scout troop out.

No, glowrings are not imported to the U.S. directly, because they are considered a "novelty item" and consequently, under 10 Code of Federal Regulations, NO radioactivity is acceptable in a novelty item in the U.S. Since tritium dialed watches have a "legitimate" use, they are acceptable, and actually have more material than a single "glowring". Actually, mailing them is not "illegal" per se, since the amount of radiation emitted by a glowring is well below the acceptable standards for the USPS. But Customs, well that's another story......

I got a confirmation email from Piet/Bagheera a couple of days ago that my latest order for Glowrings is on its way to me.

I have done business with him several times now. Simply stated, he sets a standard that few people or companies can match - a class act all the way.

If you want Glowrings or FireSteels, he's the best source out there.

Stupid question: What is a glowring?

They are a Tritium filled keyring that will glow for over 15yrs without any outside light source. Tritium is a radioactive element. You can read more about them Here. Here is a pic of the colors available.

Anybody know if these are available in Israel? Assuming the current unpleasantness doesn't get out of hand, I'll be there in a couple weeks.

company is called TRASER... They're on the web. I saw they make one traser that is like 5mmx20mm... Now that baby has to be really bright!!!
Anyone know what I'm talking about/ can ya get one?

ahh, the joys of travel. Maybe i'll pick up a few of these while i'm overseas, you can never have too much radiation in pocket. : ) Are these things safe or this something that should be used away from the body?
